KWR- Escape Room activity for Bachelorette Party

Melanie, on May 10, 2016 at 4:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 24

Has anybody ever done an 'Escape Room' event where you and a group are locked in a room for 45-60 min and have to figure out clues to get out? I'm considering doing it for my bachelorette party and have heard good reviews- just curious as to if others have ever done this.

Yes we did the escape from a zombie and a multi room one. It's pretty fun! The zombie one was stressful as hell though lol

I did one in Boston, it was so much fun. Ours wasn't the zombie kind that Janeen mentioned, although that sounds awesome. Definitely a fun group activity

I looked into this same thing! I would have loved it but I wasn't sure if everyone there would so I dropped it. If you think your group would enjoy it, go for it!

Yes, we absolutely love them! There are lots of different ones, but the good ones with lots of puzzles are SO fun.

I think it depends on the room. I didnt think it was worth the money personally

I did it with a group of friends and really liked it! Ours was an art gallery and we were actually stealing a diamond from the art gallery. We had to use clues to find the diamond and escape before "the cops were called." We barely got out on time!

I did one- it was a lot of fun! We got out in 59 minutes and 12 seconds... literally, seconds to spare, lol. Stressful, but a fun stress. Go for it!

We did a wizard's lab in Old Town Alexandria. Very fun!

A word of caution - if you can rent out the room, you should. There was 12 people in the room, 6 adults and 6 thirteen year old boys having a birthday party. They ended up taking over the whole damn thing and we couldn't do the puzzles. Annoying AF.

I did one! I actually did it with FH, his younger brother, and my FILs. (It was for his younger brother's birthday). Everyone had a great time- it was amazing!! We are actually talking about doing it for a bachelorette as well, or the guys for the bachelor party. I'm not sure where you're located, but I know Fox in a Box is a franchise, and that's who we did ours through- it was really great!!

My FH actually proposed to me in one lol. He had the staff put the ring inside one of the clues for me to find. They are so much! I have done about 10 of them total, and I can't recommend them enough to people.

I do agree with Punkin and either pick a room with the same amount of people going, or fork over the extra money to get the rest of the tickets. (My FH paid for all 5 tickets so we would be alone when he proposed, and it was awesome .) We did one room with random people and they were drunk, annoying and useless.

@Punkin- I actually found a Groupon for one in Alexandria so if it isn't filled the day we want it, we could be going to the same one. The deal was $16/person, so super cheap.

@Melanie If it's Escape Room Live Alexandria, they are awesome! I've done all the rooms in Escape Room Live DC as well. If you need an recommendations for the better rooms, let me know lol.

@Sandyfish my MOH is setting the night up and it's between Alexandria and downtown DC. The good thing is these events aren't too expensive- $28/person regularly- so I'm trying to be cautious of my friends' budgets for the evening. It really depends on which rooms are open for 5 people the night we want to do this tbh.

@Melanie Definitely book well in advance! They fill up very quickly. The only one we didn't enjoy was Escape Room Artist DC, but other than that, you can't really go wrong with any of them in DC or Alexandria.
