LA Flower Market or Flowers Wholesale Online?

Kelly O'Brien, on May 12, 2014 at 3:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

I would like to find out what the best option would be to purchase flowers for the wedding, DIY bouquets, Rose petals, centerpieces, etc.

So far I have compared 3 wholesale websites (AFloral, BunchesDirect and FiftyFlowers.com) and I have found BunchesDirect to be the best choice overall, pricing and quality-wise for bulk flowers, but AFloral offers bouquets and custom bouquets for a great price.

I just wanted to find out if I should opt for buying flowers wholesale online or going to the Flower Market in Downtown Los Angeles, to save a few extra bucks if possible.

I think its very worth it to make a trip to compare. Go to any of the shops around the mart with a picture or idea of what you want to see what would be cheaper.

The LA Flower Market has very good pricing on all flowers. IDK if they will take orders though? I went to ask about rose petals and they said only one vendor sells rose petals. When I went to ask him, he said he does not take orders, just whatever is on hand that day. So, I went online and ordered mine from Costco, free delivery.

If you are close by, I would recommend you go check out the flower market. It's $1 to get it but once there you can ask around. There are also many shops outside the flower market that do floral arrangements too.

As an east-coaster I don't know anything about the LA flower market, but if you have any questions about the bulk online stuff let me know - I used Costco and Fiftyflowers for my wedding!

Hi Kelly, I like the LA flower district. Just make sure you go early to.avoid a crowd. They also have a lot of supplies to make the process of centerpieces and bouquet easier. I'm making my own bouquet and centerpieces also. For the bouquet I am making a brooch bouquet with fake flowers and got everything from downtown

I've only heard gray things on here from brides about going to the flower district. I think it's worth making the trip to check out.

I ordered all my flowers from Sam's Club online. They ship right to your house a few days before your event and they already come assembled in bouquets if you'd like.

I also did Sam's club. I was extremely pleased with the quality and I couldn't a better price.

I've been to the LA Flower Mart a few times - I plan on using them. Roses are about $8-9/dozen ..(I'll post a few pics....)

Wow, those are stunning! Thanks for all the wonderful replies/advice.

How much are the sunflowers there, do you know? Mine is a mid-summer wedding, with sunflowers, billy balls, baby's breath, etc. etc. etc. I found a great deal for preserved billy balls from a website, but want to know the prices there.

I am so busy at work, and will have about 3-4 more days off between now and my wedding (I'm a photographer myself) that I'm not sure if I want to risk "maybe" going one of those days to check it out, so there are various pros and cons to both...

I ordered mine from Sam's Club, best prices and to be honest I don't care too much about the flowers. Sam's Club had great reviews.

I was going to DIY my flowers and then I ended up going through a local grocery store instead of a florist. I have small centerpieces because I have votives and wine bottles on the table. Total cost was under $800, which was about $300 more than I wanted to spend, but I don't have to do anything.
