If you have a lab created diamond can you tell me why you or your fiance/husband decided to go that route? Thanks!

I don't understand why anyone is arguing on this thread. Everyone has unique rings whether the stone is lab made or mined. Just appreciate the differences and how unique your own ring is.

Really not judging, just curious about why someone would make that decision. I get it now. Obviously the meaning behind a ring is very important, but for my FH and I that wasn't the only thing we took into consideration. Everyone makes different financial decisions, and that's great.

Even if it's financial, the ideas that diamonds typically appreciate or that insured/appraised value is actually fair market value if you were to sell it tomorrow is not financially accurate

I can't tell if it's because I'm so tired or not, but OP, your last comment seems condescending... My FH and I discussed it, I would have loved a yellow diamond, but honestly couldn't imagine him spending that kind of money. A jeweler was showing us rings and I fell in love with a yellow sapphire. Lab created or not, doesn't really matter, yellow sapphire is what I want, and it's what we're getting done in my E-Ring. It's OUR choice. We aren't trying to make you feel bad for having a diamond, it's your choice, just likes it's ours to get lab created or not.

I fully support everyone making a choice, especially what's best for them. I realize my comments sound condescending and rude. I apologize, I think my tone was coming across wrong. I am just genuinely curious about how couples came to that decision, especially because I had never heard of them before today. The reason someone brought it up to me was because they heard about how bad the industry of lab created diamonds is for the environment. But I didn't even know that was an industry. I'm sure they are beautiful rings!

I agree with the PP about needing to know it was conflict-free. I looked heavily into the different Lab stones. I wound up with a natural aquamarine, accented by white sapphires. My wedding bands will highly likely cost more than my e-ring.

Also agree with PP about a diamond's value, perceived or real. I have more than one friend who has struggled to get very much cash out of some very nice pieces. Their goal is to turn a profit, so they pay you pennies, and then turn around and sell it or melt it down and sell the stones and metal separately. It's just business.

I went with moissanite because I can get a 2ct flawless stone that's more firey than any diamond ive ever seen, and the original moissanite stone was found in meteor fragments. It's pretty freaking awesome and absolutely gorgeous, and FH didn't have to break the bank to buy it. I get so many compliments on it, and it refracts light so beautifully, I often have rainbows floating around the inside of my car when the sun hits it driving down the road.

I love moissanites for exactly those reasons, Chip!

@tealwedding we bought a lab diamond because it could be made from both of our locks of hair. Not sure if i would have done it otherwise. Anyone else did it? What did you pay and who did you buy it from?

Either way -- I bought mine from Heart In Diamond. https://www.heart-in-diamond.com/wedding-rings/ideas-choose.html It was about double the price of other high street wedding rings. But i got so much positive comments. And this is a diamond wedding ring made from our own hair. I can't think of a more unique wedding diamond
