Labels vs Pre Inked Stamp

Cassie, on July 27, 2017 at 11:58 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22

Which do you think is better/easier/looks nicer? Having your address for STD's, invitations & thank you cards be printed on an address label or buying a pre-inked stamp? I'm leaning towards the stamp cause I feel like it would be easier AND it's only $10.90 (including tax and shipping). But I could print the address labels for free at my job. My FW was saying just do the address labels since it's free. But $10.90 is so cheap for a pre-inked stamp and I feel like it would be easier. Opinions? What did other folks do?

We have 54 households we are sending STD/invites out to. I also already filled out address labels for the guests addresses and we stuck them on the envelopes last night.

    Anything but labels IMO.

Written, stamped, printed directly on envelope, but not labels.

I purchased a pre inked stamp from Stampanda via a Groupon. I think it was well worth it.

We got a stamp. We used our first names on it so we can use it well past our wedding/until we move. People honestly don't look at envelopes that much so don't stress too much about it. Maybe labels or printed directly on the envelope for recipient addresses?

We got a stamp and used it for regular mail after all the wedding stuff - such as birthday cards. Yes I'm still sending things by snail mail Smiley smile

Haha ok, I'm convinced, I'll get the stamp. Yeah, I didn't even think of getting the guest addresses printed on the envelope when I ordered, so it will be labels for the STD's. For folks who used the stamp for your return address, what did you do for the guest addresses? Cause if they were pre-printed, wouldn't that include your return address as well?

If it's only $ 10.90, a stamp would be ideal. However, I doubt anyone will care whether you put labels on them vs stamped the envelopes.

We did a return address stamp and hand wrote guest addresses with a fine tip sharpie. But we did run into the problem of having glossy finish envelopes, which made the stamp smudge when touched. To fix it we bought some spray at Home Depot to keep the ink from smudging and sprayed it onto the stamped envelopes. Worked great. Just a tip if your envelopes are glossy finish.

I'm using a stamp for invites and thank you cards, but I bought some super cute labels from Vistaprint for our STD's. We were moving shortly after sending STD's and didn't want to buy 2 stamps for the different addresses.

ETA: I printed guests' addresses directly on the envelopes. It was really easy but time consuming.

I just printed directly on the envelopes on my home printer. Looked pretty good.

I'm doing labels because I already had the supplies at home. Stamps are great, especially if you know you will be in that house or apartment for a while and can reuse it.

I got an address stamp from Etsy with our last name (at the time it was my soon to be name) and then I could use it for stamping the invitations, thank you cards, too. And it can be used well after the wedding for your letter correspondence.

ETA: for addressing the the invitations I made clear labels with the guest's addresses on them. If you order invites from Minted they will print your envelopes with your guest's addresses.

I printed all my envelopes. I just googled a tutorial on how to print on A2 envelopes. My printer is older so that was a pain but they came out anaIng!

We used a preinked stamp from VistaPrint. We used it for invitations, thank you cards and we stamped our address on the return envelope for the RSVP cards. I think the one we bought was not the best quality. I had to stamp it very carefully to ensure the entire address showed on the envelope. Still well worth it though. I think labels look tacky personally but I understand the appeal.

Bottom line: don't spend too much on something that people are going to rip open and discard once they get the contents out.

I vote stamp from Paper Source. I bought 2 that just had our first names and address on it so that we could continue to use it after the wedding. I especially like that you don't have to use black ink. I was able to order an ink tray in the same color mint as our wedding decor and it looked really nice on the white envelopes. My FMIL had the same idea and gave us an almost identical one for Christmas. I now have 3 self-inking stamps... Lol!

I went ahead and bought the stamp from vistaprint! Thank you all for your opinions! I'm fine with labels for the guest addresses for the STDs. For the invites, I'll do something fancier :-) Thanks everyone!
