Labor Day Weekend Brides?!

Sara, on April 9, 2021 at 3:14 PM Posted in Planning 8 57

Our wedding date is 9/4/2021 and I feel like time is flying! How are you brides feeling about your September wedding and COVID-19? Our Oklahoma venue still has capacity limits set and is only offering buffet options instead of plated (soooo frustrating as plated was one main reason we booked them!). Our DOC through our venue is amazing, but we just keep getting the "hopefully the restrictions will lift before then" response and no actual confirmation on how we should plan our menu or invites. Have any of you made a game plan on how to cut your guest list if you must? We invited 230 guest for our original 3/20/2021 date and I'd hate to have to come back and say "sorry you can't come anymore...." to 80 people we already sent STD's to.

We're 9/3/21 and feeling pretty good! We were supposed to get married 4/24/21 but decided to postpone a couple months to give our guests more time to get vaccinated, especially since all of my family would be coming from out of state (many of which I doubt would travel and attend without a vaccine). We also switched venues when we switched dates (due to mostly non-COVID-related issues) and my only fear is how seating will shake out. We met with our venue's event planner back in February and spacing everyone out for social distancing made the floor plan pretty odd. Fingers crossed we'll be able to seat people normally by then!

My wedding is on September 5th and originally kept it small. It's going well so far just found it hard to find a florist.

Wedding date is 9/4/2021. Our venue is pretty accommodating and restrictions are at 175. We invited a little over 200. Since people have to travel and not kids are invited, we expect to be at capacity or below by the time the day comes. We really aren't worried about covid at all. We planned our wedding a year to the day after our engagement. Things are starting to come together!

Our wedding is September 5th! We are getting married in IN so all restrictions have mostly been completely lifted. Everything is going good so far just have to take care of all the little details. It's going to be here before we know it!

So excited for you all! I'm hopeful that our restrictions will be lifted over summer after they open the football stadium back up to full capacity (we're tying that knot at OU lol) and really keeping my fingers crossed we won't have to cut any guests out!

Wedding date twin here! I feel like time is flying by but it's also going so slow haha. We switched venues to more all inclusive instead of DIY like we originally planned. There are restrictions in place but our coordinator is handling them well, we also have to do buffet instead of plated and at first I was like ughh but now, as long as guests are fed I'm happy. We're getting vaccinated in the next couple weeks and so far most of our guests are fully vaccinated or getting there. Feeling crazy for planning a wedding in a pandemic but hopeful it'll all work out!

The plated to buffet was a real downer for me, but honestly, it's not the end of the world and I know our guests will be satisfied with either option as long as they're fed! We too plan on getting vaccinated soon since we will be flying from GA to OK for it. I'm honestly just so excited that things are looking far better this round of planning than last year before we postponed!

Same! We've started looking into honeymoon options and I'm already excited for a vacation after all this, even if we sit in the room for a week it's worth it haha. Wishing you a magical day!

That's awesome! Our ballroom originally was capacity for 300 people prior to Covid and now is at 160 including vendors, so more-so 130 for actual guestsSmiley sad

Oh no! It sounds like a buffet could lead to more contact than plated meals if people are all touching the same serving utensils. Hoping things get better quickly and we can celebrate 100%

Hi! My wedding is set for 9/4/21 & originally we had to limit our list to 75 people but now since moving to a new phase we can invite up to 200! (YAY!) We know that some of our guest are still nervous about COVID as we are so we are opening the option for in-person or virtual viewing through a live stream that is interactive so everyone can still be a part but we can still take safety precautions. Of course we will have masks but we are also stuck with buffet options. My hope is to make sure I have individuals to help with the traffic to & from the buffet table & have seating spread out. We care keeping our in person list at 120.
