Lack of response from vendor options

Idk if this is just some weird experience I’m having, but I’m getting so frustrated, and quite honestly, disappointed in so many local vendors. I cannot count the amount of times over the past couple of weeks that I have reached out to a business through their websites contact form/tab and have literally heard nothing in response! 😤 I understand being busy or short handed or overwhelmed, but I just don’t understand not responding within a few days or a week at least.


Just ranting, but I really am wondering if anyone else has or is experiencing this.

    I 100% agree with the acknowledgement. Even if a vendor can't provide the service inquired, acknowledging the fact that you inquired about something and communicating directly what they can and cannot do is SO much better than not responding at all! Even if someone can't provide the service I need for my wedding, I may try them out for some other occasion or recommend them to someone who does want what they provide. If my message is straight up ignored I can guarantee that I won't be recommending them or considering them for any future services

    I wish I could use thumbtack for more services but in my area there is hardly anyone advertising services there 😩 I did find a somewhat promising waitstaff business through the site though!

    One photographer was my aunt’s friend who I contacted over email (she is supposedly a professional wedding photographer so I was surprised she didn’t respond for a month). Everyone else was through their website so I just don’t get it. If this is how you make money, I truly don’t understand not responding to potential business.

    I've definitely experienced this with caterers! I contacted 10 different companies around a month ago. 6 didn't respond at all, 2 did but never followed up. The other 2 were very responsive, which I think worked out for the best as I ended up booking one of the most responsive ones. I think it's a great way to weed out vendors who aren't responsive because who knows how they'll be the closer it gets to the wedding and communicating with vendors is SO important.

    Yup! This is absolutely how I’m trying to look at it, each vendor is showing how they will possibly behave and communicate during crunch time. The last two weeks and days leading up to wedding day no one is going to have the patience and grace to chase down an unresponsive vendor 😅 definitely sticking with people who actually respond!

    I reached out 7 venues back in October, and by now only 4 of them ever responded. I ended up booking the one that was most responsive and wrote off the ones that weren't. If they can't communicate well from the start there's no way I'd trust them to host my wedding.

    I know how this feels! We got engaged in September 2020 and I immediately started reaching out to vendors for October 2021. Some were very responsive at first but then ghosted me. I thought we had a dj locked down as early as October but now it's February and I haven't heard a peep back from him to confirm pricing. Needless to say we have found a new better DJ who comes with more years of experience.

    Out of all the vendors we talked to everyone who was going to get back to us, got back to us within 2 days max, with most same day. We had many that never replied at all, from what I understand it's common to not reply if you cannot support the request; already booked on that day etc.

    I am getting mixed results. Some respond ASAP and even follow up in a couple days. Some I am still waiting for a response, and it has been over a week. I am definitely inclined to go with those that are most responsive as I feel it is indicative of service to come. What if an emergency pops up 3 days before my wedding and need to contact a vendor, but their average turn around time is a week or more? Not going to work!
