Get tons of 20% off coupons and see what you can find at Bed Bath and Beyond (they accept expired ones) Sometime you can find some neat stuff in the center clearance aisle

coupon to babysit (if some of them have kids)

    bottles of liquor

    bartender set

    cute halloween or christmas decoration

Maybe even some glassware from the dollar store.

check out the dollar/clearance aisle at Target and Walmart

    big candles

    BBQ set

Should I wrap them cutesy? With clear cellophane and a ribbon?

Only if you get the cellophane bags from the dollar store! (some dollar tree do have them!)

Or to go with the dollar store glasses, maybe a bottle of wine

dollar store glasses and a bottle of liquor

Dollar store - get a basket and fill it with pampering stuff - emery boards, nail polish remover, nail polish, manicure set, lotion, etc.

Any gift cards you got that are sitting around the house that you will never use.

Do some fun gag gifts too! Some stuff from Spencers or Lover's lane.

(for the gag gifts, tell people they can bid on other peoples names - That would be funny! I bid $30 that Cora has to take the Tickle Kit home)

Hayley I love your ideas! I too think those coupons would be a super easy way to create a fun atmosphere. Cora you could also try coupons for other things: home made meal (like a personal chef "date night" for the winner), or yard work, etc.

While I have never done an auction in a bridal shower setting I have helped to host a "One Man's trash..." themed auction. It's super easy to do and if you have some collector's in the family/friend circle you can get some really neat items people will want to bid for. The concept is a little different but parts might work for you. You basically have people bring items they may or may not want anymore but are still desirable (antiques, collectibles, gag gifts, old school toys, whatever). Then you auction them off to the crowds. The crowd gets funky take homes and whoever's items bring in the most money when prizes for the donations. You could even alter the idea to the bride and groom by having them donate some nostalgic items. Good Luck!

Kristen - I love that! "One Man's Trash" ... I think I have heard them called "Pink Elephant" too!

edit - guess it is really "white elephant" not sure where I got the "pink" from

You be surprised how much people fight over something like silly bar themed x-mas light strands or a garden gnome.

Lol....I think Pink Elephant sounds much more pleasant to the ear. Depending on how rowdy the intended crowd is you could also try: a dance off w/entrance fee or

couple trivia. Definitely keep us updated.
