Lake side venue - noisy from jet skis and boats

Exec, on June 20, 2024 at 3:47 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7

Hi! What do you do if the venue is beautiful but the noise from the jet skis and boats are loud during the ceremony? Does the venue have any jurisdiction over this area/lake to tell them they can't ride during certain times?

That is definitely something you are going to want to ask your venue. But, if it’s a public lake, I doubt they would have any jurisdiction over that

Unless it’s a private lake where the venue owns & controls the area, no, they wouldn’t be able to stop ordinary public use of the lake. It’s just a risk you take when using public areas.

I agree with PP. Unless the venue owns the lake or otherwise has control over independent boaters I doubt it. I went to a wedding where an airplane loudly flew overhead at an inopportune moment. That’s a risk you take with outdoor ceremonies.

Venues have no control over public places. We have a LOVELY picture of some idiot in his speedo walking along the beach during our ceremony. LOLOL Luckily our photographer got the same style shot a few moments later, sans the speedo.

Oh my. he walked by again without a speedo?

If the venue owns land along a natural lake, their ownership could extend from the lake edge in a triangle to the center of the lake, which could give them some say. The other option is get a few boats of fishers offshore so the skiers could not come so close.

Bahahaha!!! I know this isn’t what the OP meant (she meant the Photographer got the same shot without the guy in the speedo in it), but this made me LOL thinking about the guy strolling by in his speedo, then strolling back by again naked 🤣🤣 Those would be some priceless wedding photos!! 🤣🤣🤣

This is very much a reality with lakefront wedding - my friend was married at a country club and while there were no speedos in the background there were not-so-nice-looking boats, docks, and jetskis. I don't think there's anything you can do about that.
