Lamest Wedding Ever

Hey yall, idk if anyone here has heard of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome but it SUCKS!

It's been 3 years of long covid for me and I still haven't recovered. They say MCAS is like being allergic to the world and that's so true from my experience. Just a short list of the toll it's had on my life and especially my upcoming wedding, I can no longer:

Wear makeup, perfume or hair product

Eat foods with seasoning or anything with that's high in histamine, or anything frozen

Listen to music with instruments because of my tinnitus and hyperacusis

Stand up for more than a half hour without feeling sick

Drink alcohol

Use any sort of fragrance, ie no candles, perfumes, scented deodorant or laundry detergent

Even SUNLIGHT makes my skin turn red and patchy.

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude but this is definitely not what I ever imagined for myself. We've been putting off marriage since 2020 hoping that I would get better but that's obviously not gonna happen any time soon ☹️

I’m sorry to hear about your long haul syndrome. I know several people who’ve had serious long haul including one who developed it after recovering without incident from previous Covid infections. It’s no joke.

Mostly, I just want to say that none of the things on your list will make your wedding “lame” and to wish you well.

I’m so sorry you’re going through all this before your wedding! I completely understand your struggles - I developed an auto immune disorder, which was triggered by a major surgery, shortly before our wedding. We were forced to postpone due to Covid, but during those extra two years, the auto immune disorder definitely did not get any better, despite all my best efforts. As much as it’s not what you want to hear, the best thing you can do is just accept this as your new normal, and continue on with life. I know how hard it is to resist putting life on hold to try to fight the inevitable… but all it ends up doing is wasting time and costing you beautiful experiences. Simply plan your wedding around these new parameters, instead of thinking about what your wedding “would have” been like. That mindset only robs you of happiness.
You got this girl! And your wedding is still going to be absolutely fabulous!
