Lantern Centerpiece Height

Rachel, on July 24, 2018 at 4:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hi there!

The wooden lanterns that I’ve been eyeing recently for centerpieces went on sale. I purchased the medium size lanterns with the dimensions of 6.29 x 6.29 x 12.20. I just got them in today and I’m wondering if I should have went with the large lanterns (7.48 x 7.48 x 14.68). I originally went with the medium because I want folks to be able to talk to eachother across the table without a giant centerpiece in the way. My tables are 60’ rounds with 6 per table to account for family style dining. This is my inspiration for centerpieces:

What do y’all think? I don’t want the tables to look bare :/

I think these are perfect. The bigger ones will just be in the way. esp with family style dining there will be extra plates, etc on the table, so it won't look bare at all.

I think they will be fine. Once you get everything on the table, it will look good.

I think that size is great! I've read that centerpieces should be a foot tall (or shorter) or taller than 22 inches (tall floral arrangements) to allow maximum conversation across the table. I just measured mine and they are 12 inches tall and we have the same sized tables. I think we're fine!

12" will be fine for 60" rounds. I have 14.5" lanterns, but they'll be on 72" rounds. I wouldn't sweat it at all.

Just curious -- where are you getting the lanterns?

Thank you so much!! This made me feel a lot better. They’re Better Homes and Gardens from Walmart! https://express.google.com/product/2530043260122267319_13923422571175855465_8175035. Extra 20% off through Google Express, and I had a Walmart gift card from a while back just waiting to be used, so it worked out great.

Thank you so much! I’m pretty new to the planning game, so I know next to nothing about things like this. This made me feel a lot better!

I am making my lanterns with my cameo silhouette. They have fake candles in the pattern that hold battery operated tea lights. Cost point each lantern eight dollars.
