Lash extensions... or no?! Paging makeup enthusiasts!

Ashley, on October 20, 2017 at 1:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Hi everyone!

So I LOVE makeup and I'm planning on doing my own for the wedding. I did own and applied fake lashes for our engagement photos, so I think I'll do just fine on my own, I actually end up doing makeup for my friends for events, weddings, anything.

However I'm really curious if anyone has eyelash extensions and if you love them?!

I'm thinking the extensions can makeup for not having a makeup artist.

I have naturally long eyelashes but I just hate taking the time to apply mascara.

I would love to try them for my bachelorette party and the wedding but I don't want to ruin my natural lashes.

Thoughts?

@katie I love fake lashes they just take me forever to apply. If I do wear them I only wear the half strips, because my lashes are so long and look fake with mascara as it is, so a full strip looks too much on me.

I don't have them, but I looked into them and they are way too high maintenance for me. Like they apparently have their own lil blow dryer because they have to be dried when they get wet.

Eyelash extensions are tricky. I honestly wouldn't recommend it for your wedding if you've never done it before. Some people love them! But some people hate them. For me, I loved them when I first got them done but then after a while, when my lashes started growing, they twisted all funny and got in my eyes and itched. Then, when they started to fall out, they yanked my natural eyelashes out with them leaving me with little to no eyelashes for months and months. To be fair, the professionals would have told me to go back in to get them retouched. Sooner or later I think the same thing would've happened. Beautiful when you first get them done but I won't do it again. Not to mention, you have to make sure and get them done at a realllly good place because if they aren't well done, it's a much much worse story.

I did eyelash extensions for my wedding and I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love the look but I stopped getting them filled after the honeymoon because it was too much work. It wasn't my first time having them done so I knew the upkeep going in.

Pros: No need to wear a lot of eye make up with them. You wake up and look ready to go.

Cons: High maintenance (no oil products, no steam or water for the first 48 hours, sleeping on your side can make them fall out faster) I've never heard of a blow dryer though. Mine were fine after getting wet and air drying, they just needed to be brushed. They're also expensive and should be filled every 2-4 weeks.

Yeah my biggest concern is the cost and messing up my lashes, how were your guys lashes after you stopped getting them done?

I'm worried I'm going to LOVE them and then just throw my paychecks at my lashes lolSmiley smile

10/10 will always recommend mash extensions. It saves me soooo much time. Just make sure whoever you choose is EXPERIENCED licensed and has pics of their work Smiley smile

I LOOOVE my eyelash extensions. They are 100% worth it. Just find someone who knows what they are doing and is experiences. I also prefer mink to silk, but that's just personal opinion

The first time I got them done I damaged my lashes because I picked at them a lot. This past time wasn't nearly as bad but I did lose a few lashes here or there as some fell out naturally with the extensions.

I got eyelash extensions as a bridesmaid. I didn't particularly like them because I pull on my eyelash -and eyebrows when I'm stressed and those bad boys were off within 3 days.

I got false lashes for my wedding day and they worked totally fine and the sheer joy of ripping them off at night was worth it for the cost.

I've done lash extensions for over a year now and I love them. I go back every three to four weeks to get them filled. As long as you aren't an eye toucher/scratcher/rubber, you'll be fine. Take care of them and they'll take care of you.

It is up to you Smiley smile If you have sensitive eyes though I'd try lash extentions out WAYYYY far out prior to wedding to see if your eyes arent going to like close up or whatever because a friend of mine had this problem. If the lash extentions arent "wedding" enough you can't add strip lashes to them because that ruins them so I would say individual lash packs or strip lashes alone are your best bet Smiley smile Hope that helps!
