Hey guys! Need some help/advice on a classy backyard wedding for Sept 12, 2020! We decided to cancel venue with all the restrictions and have it exactly the way we want in the backyard. I’m struggling with making sure I’m booking everything we need and even how much alcohol to buy.

I’m renting tent/tables/chairs/linens/a bar (I am having a few bartender friends serve drinks so it’s a little more formal), have the dj coming and the venue is still catering our original food choice which is awesome. I just don’t want to forget anything! How do I know how much alcohol person to purchase per guest? Should I check pricing on full flooring for under the tent? Or is that not worth it? Anything you would have done differently or forgot to do? Calling on my fellow brides for some help!! Thank you in advance!
Sincerely someone who is over Covid and just wants to marry her HS sweetheart😭

    If you haven't looked into it yet, make sure you rent a portable bathroom. They make really nice ones that are in a trailer but you will definitely want one!

    Full flooring might be really expensive... a tent company here wanted maybe $5,000 for an equalized flat floor. I'm not sure your budget, but after all the other things we were buying, it was kind of a lot. I would definitely shop it around though. You should consider your climate - is it rainy in september where you are? Would you need to potentially set this floor up in advance to avoid having wet grass? What about sides to your tent in the event of extreme rain/sun?

    I think it's worth it if your backyard is super uneven, you have a lot of old people coming, or you think people are going to get really drunk. Having gotten married within the last month and this being people's only fun social event for the summer, everyone was VERY drunk. They also drank my venue dry of tequila. So maybe knowing your guests drink of choice will help in purchasing.

    Other things you might want to consider:

    * I didn't see silverware on this list?

    * Glasses/cups

    I'm not sure where you live but come september you could either need fans or a heater for night time.

    Other items:
    * Candles/votives

    * lighting/light supply for the evening

    Alcohol you also have to take into consideration your attendants. If you know people will drink more beer and the traditional calculators won't take that into consideration just alter it for what will work best for your guests.

    Pro tip: don't forget LOTS of ice! haha That seems to be a last minute thing that people can often forget about and no one wants a hot drink on a hot day.

    I know all of this is stressful, and you're planning like crazy, just remember to have fun the day of and not to be too hard on yourself if you did happen to forget something. Smiley smile

    I am hoping to have a backyard wedding as well! I just got engaged a few weeks ago and it’s my first choice over a traditional venue wedding, honestly. Happy to see so many people are going the same route.

    Thank you the kind words! Definitely been trying to keep as calm as possible but at times it does get stressful! Most important thing is to have fun! The place I’m tending the tent from actually rents out bars as well so there is already a spot for the ice so it shouldn’t be too hard to forget but yes! Good idea I’ll have to assign someone that cus a hot drink wouldn’t be good!😆

    With all the changes and uncertainties with the venue; 50p and no dancing, it wouldn’t feel quite like a wedding to us so this seemed like the perfect fit! Congratulations on your engagement!! So exciting!! Backyards leave room to make it your own and that’s so nice!!☺️
