Last minute wedding dress advice?

Last minute wedding dress advice? 1

So long story short I got engaged in December of 2020 and we are getting married 03/12/2022. I had been suffering minor health woes for about a year now but it ramped up after the engagement and I was finally diagnosed with Hashimotos and Lupus in March of this year. I had gained over 20 lbs and am constantly battling other issues such as rashes on my chest, back, neck, and even my face.

I have worked really hard to lose 12 of the 20 lbs over the last couple of months but am still battling my health and how I feel day to day. This has caused huge body image issues for me so I put off wedding dress shopping for a bit to focus on getting my head and body straighter.

Well i'm finally going shopping on Monday! I am flying out to Michigan ( we live in California) to go with Future mother in law and Future sister in law. After being on here it seems as though i'm going to have to only go with designers that can do a rush order or short production time? I had no idea I was supposed to order a dress a year or more in advance!!

Any tips on a very anxious bride for wedding dress shopping??

That's not true for all dresses, there will be some that will be able to get delivered before then. When I got my dress I ordered it in January and they told me that I would receive it in June. I ended up getting it in February, you still have some time. Especially if you are going next week.

Personally I think you should be fine, but you can always call the shops in advance to see what they are saying the turn around time is for their dresses.

Thank you that makes me feel so much better. I've been scared at having and extremely limited selection and not finding anything!

Just make sure the bridal consultant knows the wedding date, as well as when you would like for it to arrive. They can make sure you only try on dresses that can get to you in time. Also, We have the same wedding date!!

Talk to your stylist and make sure they know when your wedding is and when you need your dress by. I ordered mine on Sunday (I'm in Michigan too, but that doesn't make a ton of difference I'm sure) and was told it'll be 6 months. If you get yours in 6 months you should be able to make it work, so you'll just have to make sure the people at the shop know what you need.

Lots of stores have off-the-rack options, and many will also have dresses that won't take a full 12 months! Mine was supposed to take 5 months but ended up only taking 4 - it was about 6 weeks early, when I was expecting covid delays then christmas and new years, so anticipating a full 6-7!

Enjoy your dress shopping - it is one of my fondest memories of wedding planning and even thought I thought I was at the time, I honestly wish I'd soaked it in a bit more and just really taken my time to enjoy it!

I think you will be totally fine! I actually bought my dress off the rack and walked out with it that same day. plenty of dresses can get to you within 6 months. I'm sorry to hear about your health struggles and hope things continue to look up for you!
