Last name

There are a lot of common names, and sometimes... you have the same one!

At least you don't have to think about changing names!

Depending on what country or language your name comes from, some totally different areas, their families never crossed in 500 years, will have the same name. Some names have meanings. Two people named Clark, we in a few languages it mean Clerk, someone who could read and write and do office or record work. Lots of people got that name, some in every big town. My landlords name means potato grower, if you go back, and so in his country, lots of people have that name. Or they were raised on some rich person's land, or lived along a river, and took that name. Lots of people with the same name, are not related at all, ever, no matter how far you go. They were named after the same thing. Not related.

I have a family member whose maiden name is Smith. And I know Smith is a very very common last name. My fiancé cousin has the same last name as my cousin, and no we are not related either. I found that out when we were planning our wedding. I wouldn't be nervous, it sounds like you won't have to worry about dealing with the hassle of changing your last name.

Not to sound weird but...if you're worried that you're related...why not pay for genetic testing? Are you really so worried you might be related that you had to check multiple times? I'm not sure I'm reading this post correctly.

Not sure why you are worried. One of my friends got married a couple of years ago and her husband had the same last name as her. It was just a common last name.

If you have a super common last name then I don't think you'd have much to worry about. You can always do genetic testing just to be on the safe side though if you're concerned (and if you have a more unique last name)
