Just Said Yes July 2020

Late July Brides

Julie, on May 6, 2020 at 10:55 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 6
Hello everyone,

I was supposed to get married on July 26 of this year. Everything is so uncertain but we have a big payment due to our venue at the end of the month if we are going to go through with it as originally planned. We would have a fair number of people traveling to Philly from out of town. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Have you decided to postpone or are you waiting it out?
Thanks! I hope everyone is making it through this crisis okay.

Ugh I feel you!! I am in the same position. I am July 25th with all of my guests coming from out of state. Personally I would like to postpone now as it has been torture for me having everything be in limpo. unfortunately our venue is making us wait until 6 weeks before to make a decision so we are forced to play the waiting game.

July 25th bride in Wisconsin. We still have not postponed. We just had to pay our venue half of our total payment (including food, beverages, service etc.). Before I paid, I did call them to figure out a plan. They told us that we can postpone if we would like, but they didn’t seem worried about our date. We asked what would happen to the payment if we postponed, and what would happen if we just canceled completely in case they didn’t have any future dates available that would work for us. Luckily our venue is very flexible and said we wouldn’t have an additional payment and we would get a full refund. Definitely come up with your list of concerns and give them a call before you make your payment.

Oomph. I’m from Philly and it looks like their extending the stay at home order to June 30th. Our mayor is not playing. So we may be here through July. I️ would Have a backup plan. It’s great that your venue will offer a full refund but what about the other vendors? Best of luck.

    July 25th here too

We haven’t postponed yet. Our wedding planner wants us to wait. We have to make the call by mid-June.
We decided on a guest list of only 50 and have contacted all of our major vendors. If we need to postpone we will pick a new date in July 2021

July 25th too. We have not postponed yet. Our venue felt confident about our date and were rescheduling earlier brides first. Basically everything has been planned for months and now we are just waiting. We will order invites this month and want to send them out as late as possible, like 6 weeks before to allow time for more information on what it may be like in late July. I had a rough time a few weeks ago when our venue wasn't willing to talk Plan B, and now I am just more calm about it now and trying to be positive. I'm fully aware we may have to postpone (which will be heartbreaking), but I suppose we might as well hold out in the event that we can have our wedding.

    Hi Julie,

I'm sorry that you have to think about postponing your wedding. It's a tough situation.

You may want to start considering your options. Have you checked with your venue to see what they're recommending timing-wise? Would they be able to hold a back-up date for you just in case? The general consensus for July weddings is that you should monitor the situation and try to make a decision by the end of May--or postpone sooner if doing so brings you peace of mind.

Obviously, you are NOT alone. Here's a couple of discussions with July brides that may be helpful to you as you weigh the decision to postpone:

My thoughts are with you, and I'm hoping for the best! Smiley heart
