Late June or Early September Wedding in Chicago Suburbs

Abi, on June 11, 2018 at 6:02 PM Posted in Illinois Planning 0 8
Is there anyone living in Chicago Suburbs? We are going to have an outdoor wedding and the weather is the only factor we are considering about. The question is which is better than the other? Late June or early September?

I’d say early June is better. Early September is hurricane season, and I know we don’t get the actual hurricanes, but the storms do travel inland and there’s more thunderstorms in September than June. I looked it up before because I wanted an outdoor Chicago wedding and June had the least rain.

Can’t say from experience but I’m going late September cause I’ve always wanted a September wedding. I think no matter what in Chicago the weather is so unpredictable you honestly never know what you’re going to get last year on September 21 ( my date) it was 95 and sunny that day but that’s not the norm so I’m praying for nice weather for my outside ceremony this year!

That is so true. The weather in Chicago is so unpredictable. All we can do is praying hard. Thank you for your respond, and congratulations on your August wedding. Praying for you too!

Chicago weather is so hit or miss, it could be 90* in June or perfect. In September it could be 90* or 60* and raining. June is super popular wedding month b/c it typically has better weather, but September could be perfectly cool and comfortable for an outdoor wedding. Do you know what venue you want? Whether you do or not you might consider if there are indoor options for inclement weather (rain, too cold, too hot) or any temperature control (heaters, AC etc)

Only other thing to consider outside of weather, is off-peak rates. Not sure if budget is a consideration for you, but sometimes if you get out of the months of May to August you can get discounts/ off-peak rates (i.e. around 10% off).

Thank you so much! I think I prefer June much more. The budget is not what we concern because the venue we choose doesn’t have the discount for that. That’s why the weather is our #1 concern.

I'm doing September 21st next year at my house in Joliet. September is our anniversary month, and plus think of this June. It got hot and sticky. The way I see it, September is generally past the miserable heat, but before the cold rainy October weather comes.
