Late morning/afternoon wedding and reception - after party?

Michelle, on July 30, 2019 at 2:42 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 8
Hello, my fiancé and I are having our ceremony from 11:30-12, cocktail and reception until 3:45. We planned on having an after-party at a local bar where we will provide some more food and drinks for our guests, but is that too much for one day? I figured the after party would go from 4:30-8 or 9pm. Anyone have experience with anything similar?
Thanks!

I won’t know for sure for another week and a half, but we are doing something very similar! Ceremony 9:30-10, Reception 11:30-4:30 and after party from 4:30 to whenever. So far most of the feedback from everyone has been that it’s a great idea. We did a sort of informal poll with our online RSVPs as to weather people are likely or unlikely to attend, just to get an idea for how much food to order, and almost 50% said likely!

We are doing something similar. We are having the ceremony at 11 am, cocktail hour from noon - 1 pm, reception 1 pm - 4 pm & then we are doing a no-host after-party at the hotel bar from 4 pm - 8 pm. We paid to ensure private bartender & the private bar, but guests will have to pay for any drinks at the after-party.

I don't think that's too much. It's not like people are required to attend the after party.

I wouldn't put the after party on your dime. I have never heard of any after party where the bride and groom pay. I think mention it and leave it up to people if they want to go and continue celebrating with you.

That doesn't sound too much actually. Usually weddings people have a full day timeline anyway

I say go for it! It's not like you're forcing anyone to attend if they don't want to

It sounds fun to me. If people don’t want to go to the after party they can just opt out. Have fun!!
