late night snack

Beth, on January 13, 2013 at 8:42 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 28

Has anyone ever had a late night snack at their wedding - something at the end of the night? I really wanted tacos for our wedding food and that's not going to work out, but now I am thinking it would be fun if someone picked up a bunch of tacos at taco bell or something and bring them out to us towards the end of the night. I wonder if the venue would even allow it. I have seen a few other venues that offer something like this - sliders or something later in the night. Just wondering if anyone has ever been to a wedding that did this - did you even want food at that point in the night?

We went to a wedding recently where they had Krystals brought in towards the end of the night! I don't eat Krystals, but they were super cute and everyone loved it!! I would personally love some hot Krispy Kreme donuts Smiley smile)

We are doing one! It was the first wedding detail we both instantly agreed on. Our venue offers a late night snack - we chose heart shaped grilled cheese - and yes our college drinking buddies will definitely want food at that point in the night.

I love the idea. Check with your venue. If they allow it, go for it. If they do not allow outside food, ask them about a small "end of event" snack.

I've been to a few weddings where they have pizza as a late night snack.. it's a really nice touch for those who have been drinking and/or dancing all night and want some late night calories! Smiley smile

We are making our own soft pretzels (my family makes them all the time) and will have those as a late night snack for our wedding!!

Julie F, we have the same wedding date! I invited you to connect, I don't know how to private message yet. I'd love to chat with you about what you're doing at this point! You seem way ahead of the game compared to me!!!

And late night snacks sound awesome, we are thinking of doing it as well if we can fit it into our budget. Either mini hot-dogs (my family loves those) or mini sliders/burgers that the venue offers.

A late night snack would be awesome! Especially if your reception ends late, like mine (12am)

That sounds like a great idea! Not sure about Taco Bell, though because their food is kind of gross and I know some people who have gotten food poisoning from them. Would your venue set up something? It doesn't have to be complicated or big-- I love the cookies and milk idea, and the pizza idea. I went to one wedding where they served Krispy Kremes and fries right before guests left.

Our reception ended around 2 a.m., so we had a late snack around 11:30 p.m.

Ours was smokies with the fixings and a fruit platter. Went over so well. When we talked to the venue the next day, our group was the most number of them they ever cooked.

We just discussed this. We thought about donut holes or even whole donuts, kolaches, the cookies n milk, or even coffee cup cakes.

I have been to quite a few weddings with late night snacks and I LOVE IT! It makes it so nice to be able to fill your stomach up after all the alcohol.

We are going to do White Castles. We are lucky enough the venue is going to let is go across the street and pick them up. A lot cheaper than them making them for us.

Make sure that the people you're inviting are a party-into-the-night crowd before doing this. We thought about doing late-night sliders (our caterer offered the option), but we didn't really have the money, and that turned out to be a good thing, 'cause our reception wound down a bit early -- if we had spent all of that money, probably nobody would've eaten them.

The wedding I went to a month before ours had a late night buffet, of pizza, burgers, poutine, and a few other things. It was a HUGE hit, 4 hrs after dinner everyone had been drinking, the food was demolished.

I said we NEED to do this and did. At 10:30ish, We had our venue suppply, quesadillas, spanakopitas, mini sandwiches, nachos, cheese crackers, and pizza (they did not allow outside food to be brought in). Everything was eaten. Good thing too (there was no food in our suite and we brought about 18 friends back to party till 5:30 in the morning). We had the venue till 1:30am. I would suggest real food though not more dessert. The kind of people who will still be around drinking and dancing will want food not another piece of cake. IMO.

I have been to one that did a late night snack, cookies and milk, it was very cute. Our venue offers it, we are doing pizza's about an hour or so into our dance. It will be great for the kids and for those that didn't get enough during dinner or have been drinking. It gets to be a long day and I really think this will help keep the energy up and people dancing all night. :-)
