Late save the dates

Samantha, on March 5, 2017 at 2:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Our wedding is 5 months from today. Being the procrastinator that I am, I have not sent out save the dates yet. Is it too late? Should I save myself the time and money and skip them or should I send them out this week to give my guests a heads up so they don't make any plans on our big day?

If you haven't ordered them yet, skip it.

Skip it. It will be pretty much another month before your guests actually get them.

We are date twins. Smiley smile

Everything that I have read says that STDs should be sent between 6-9 months prior to the wedding. With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I didn't get any ordered so I decided to not send them out. A co-worker of mine is getting married on the same date and she just got hers and is planning on sending them out in May. To each his own I guess.

@Future, your coworker is definitely wasting her money. She's sending STDs in May and the invitations in June?

I procrastinated until the 5 month mark as well, but I had ordered save-the-dates back in August (couldn't pass up a sale, and was planning to send them sooner). I decided just to send them to out-of-state guests that would have to make a lot of travel plans. If you haven't bought anything yet, I'd skip them and just make sure VIPs and out-of-town guests that are important to you know.

Date twin! I'm in the same boat. Maybe I'll just send out invitations a little earlier.

If you have a lot of out of town guests, I'd send them late. If not, skip it.

I'm getting married the week after you and I finally got half of mine sent out (my family), i will be sending FH's half in April because his sister is getting married April 15th, and we were told it would be rude to send out our stationary with her wedding being so soon so to not bump heads we just decided to send my half and wait on theirs. Invites will follow in late may or early June

We only sent them to family and bridal party and like some very close friends who have been in our lives. I wouldn't worry about it, honestly looking back I would have skipped it! Extra unnecessary expense!

    ETA: spelling lol

You could send intivations at this point. Include a wallet of your engagement pics if youd like to have a picture!

Depends if you have a lot of travelers and OOT guests. We just ordered our Save the Dates and working on a detail card for guests. We'll send them out next month. I don't think there is anything wrong doing it at 5 months for the OOT guests.

@CMC, I totally agree. I personally didn't think it was a good idea, but she said she had already purchased them so I didn't want to burst her bubble. I didn't hear her say when she planned on sending out her invites. Mine will go out in June. Smiley smile
