Lavender toss..Is this a bad idea?

Kim, on July 10, 2013 at 4:56 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I wanted to do sparklers at our big send off, but our venue has strict rules against anything with a flame, petals, bubbles, seeds, sprinkles etc.. So I thought maybe I could toss lavender. However, I heard that MANY people have allergies to lavender and it is quite the devil when it comes to smudging and staining clothes. Has anyone done this? Thoughts?

I'd just think that if that stuff got in my dress, it'd itch like a B and you wouldn't be able to get it out. I'm surprised that they wouldn't allow bubbles though. If they wouldn't allow that, is lavender OK?

If they won't let you toss petals or seeds, I doubt you'll be allowed to toss lavender so I would double check that first!

It sounds to me like your venue doesn't want you tossing anything at all. lavender is pretty much the same as a petal or seed i'd say.

have you considered making ribbon wands or something? same effect in pictures without any kind of mess.

I emailed the venue to ask but it's more like a herb?? I didn't know if that would be a loophole. They won't allow bubbles because they said it can create a soapy residue and people can slip, especially with dress shoes on. I'm guessing I will do flags but I really don't want to add anymore diy's to my list. I guess I could order them, but places are always asking ridiculous prices on wedding stuff.

That's a cute flag. I would definitely go with something like that as opposed to the lavender.

I went to a wedding where this was done and it was beautiful and lovely! However, the person behind me didn't toss hard enough and I ended up with a head and dress full of lavender.

Lavender triggers headaches in me, so I'd say meh :/

I LOVE the "Yay" flags though!! Cute idea, my venue is strict on things being tossed too!

Well the venue surprisingly gave the ok on the lavender toss but only after the ceremony. I may do the flags after send off. Smiley smile
