Layering table drapes and runners?

Msmmain86, on February 3, 2022 at 12:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 3

Hello all-

I'm trying to figure something out - and I need to bounce some ideas around here. Our venue has 6' rectangular tables, with white tablecloths, and we wanted to put a square overlay on them turned on point, so triangles hang on either side. My question is - would it be too over the top to add a runner on top of that with our long-ish floral centerpieces/candles/displays on top, for a small-ish (60-75 guests) wedding? Or just overdone in general? I was thinking the runner & overlays would be various combinations of my colors (burgundy, chocolate brown & beige) to keep it kind of varied as well.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!!

IMO I would do one or the other, a runner or the overlays. An option would be the overlay with a floral or greenery runner instead of a cloth runner!

I agree with Samantha. I feel like with the decor you want running down the length of the table the layering of the runner and the overlay will just get lost. You're already giving an illusion of a runner of sorts with your florals, so because of that I would probably stick with the overlay only.

    I agree as well.

I think a rectangular tablecloth, then a runner would be the safest, least busy looking option.
