Layflat or Normal Album?

Jessica, on August 18, 2020 at 10:51 PM Posted in Married Life 0 9
My MIL was really excited about the layflat album from Artifact Uprising that her daughter gave to her and hinted that she’d like the same from us.

I looked them up and they’re like 2x as expensive and have fewer pages. We are talking like $150 for 20 pages. Does anyone have any experience to confirm whether they’re worth the extra cost?

Just tell her you’re sorry but that’s not in your budget. If she’d like to pay the extra for the upgraded album you’d be happy to order it for her once she’s transferred the money to you (don’t order it and wait for her to pay, make sure you have the $$$ first!).

I personally think that layflat is absolutely worth the cost for your own album, but definitely not necessary for parent albums. Most people I know (myself included) have done the parent albums through Shutterfly. If it's the layflat she wants, then you can do a layflat album from Shutterfly for a whole lot less that that. The quality is good and there are always deals going on

Yes, all of this. It's well worth it for your own album, but if she wants her own expensive album, she can fund it. Shutterfly is also much more budget friendly.

I ordered my bridal portraits album from Mpix. It lays flat and I had around 80 pics for $130? Hard cover, photo on front, title on spine. They usually have sales all the time, definitely check them out. It was 9x12” or something similar. Layflat or Normal Album? 1

I'm not sure what you mean by a normal album, but we ordered layflat books from Mixbook for our parents for Christmas. They were 31 pages with the highest quality pages. We bought them during a Black Friday sale so they were originally $222.76, but we ended up spending $116.83. The albums were very pretty and definitely worth the money.

Check out Shutterfly. As a gift for someone, I would choose a cheaper option. Shutterfly offers a layflat option for a much cheaper price.

Totally agree with SHUTTERFLY.... I made a 30 page book with layflat (non wedding) for $75

Thank you everyone! Really appreciate the mentions of cheaper layflat options so she still gets that aspect even if it doesn't match her daughter's album perfectly.

How often does a person really look back at the album anyway?

I created and ordered mine from Shutterfly. It was 75 pages and around $200 that was during the 50% off deal but I also did the deluxe layflat and 6color printing add ons. To me it was well worth it. I LOVE OUR WEDDING ALBUM! I plan to order to the standard book for the parents as a Christmas gift but they do run deals for their photo albums frequently and at a much better price then what you mentioned above.
