Leaf throwing for exit, need advice

Shannon449, on May 28, 2016 at 6:07 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 21

Hey everyone! My fiancé and I want everyone to throw leaves as we walk back up the aisle after the ceremony... My only question is how many leaves do we put in each packet? And do we put packets in every seat or just the aisle seats? Thanks!

I love that for a fall ceremony. I think about 1-2 handfuls or however much fits in a small bag. Just the aisles would be easier, but every seat would make the exit more fun for everyone and better for pics in my opinion. Bubbles are typically on every seat.

This sounds lovely! If I were you, I think I would go for 2 - 3 handfuls. That way, you have 2 handfuls for people to toss while you exit, and 1 extra in case people start tossing a little too early. I've seen people almost run out of bubbles, etc because they start too early.

Out of curiosity, are you using real leaves? Where are you getting them from? I love this idea, since I'm getting married in October too.

My anal tendencies caused me to immediately think, "who's going to pick up all those leaves?" Yeah, I need help. Smiley smile

I would think 2-3 handfuls would be good, and I would do every seat. Are you doing fall colors? red/yellow/orange?

I just keep thinking who is going to pick up all the fake leaves? But I love the idea and it would make for great photos!

I'm doing the same, but with rose petals. Smiley smile I think our florist budgeted for each person to have 2 handfuls. Because we're having an evening ceremony, our reception will likely go rather late and we figured that most folks will leave before we are able to do an official "send off" (our wedding and reception are at the same venue), so while an up-the-aisle send off isn't quite the same, it still has the same spirit.

Edit: And for the record, our decorator is picking up the petals when they clean up everything outside. Smiley smile

I bought some real leaves that are preserved (almost a rubbery feel to them) at Michael's. Oak & maple leaves, reds, yellows, oranges.

We are doing fall colors, and the staff at the venue does it for no extra charge :-)

Connie we have the same situation with ceremony and reception at the same place.

We so wanted to do this! But our venue won't have any good fall leaves and we aren't able to bring in any outside vegetation. I think 3 handfulls in each packet, and every seat so everyone can join in the fun!

We were thinking about doing this too.

We would use the colorful leaves (red, orange, brown) and use a hold punch to create thousands of little colorful leave circles. Each packet would get a handful of real leaves to throw.

I don't think we'll do it simply because it's a lot of work and I wouldn't be able to do it until a few days until the wedding and that is stressful to me.

Is it going to be in the program for people to toss leaves as you exit? A friend wanted people to toss lavender and she and her DH exited their ceremony and everyone got a packet of lavender, but no one tossed it. They all thought it was a favor. I only knew because I spoke to her mother before the ceremony at the pre-ceremony cocktail hour. But, because no one else tossed, I didn't. Will this be announced in some way! Because that could be really amazing if properly executed.
