Leap day wedding!?!? thoughts??

Katie, on March 1, 2012 at 6:37 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20

So my friend got married yesterday! I don't know how I feel about this... lol (not that it matters what I think) I feel like it would be weird not have an anniversary every year, but at the same time that would make the anniversaries that you do have that much more special! I know they will most likely celebrate their anniversaries every year on March 1st, but still!...

What are your thoughts!?

Kimi got married yesterday, and her story was really sweet. I actually think it would be really neat to have such a special day and memory of your wedding being on an unconventional day.

Kimi did it. It has a really special meaning to her. For me, if it meant something to me, I'd do it to.

I think it would be really cool, I actually know someone who was born on a leap day so he doesn't really celebrate his birthday every year but when he does get one he goes all out!

I wouldn't mind the day being leap day, but I wouldn't want my wedding on a week day.

I'm with Kristi - I understand why Kimi did it because the day was really special to her and FH, but I would never want my wedding on a weekday...even a Friday or Sunday...I always wanted a Saturday wedding. To me, that would be more important than any date that had special meaning...the day doesn't become any less special just because you didn't get married on it.

    I would have Loved it!

We were **this** close to getting married on Leap Day.

(it is an anniversary of ours)

But it was a Friday, and we had a lot of out of State guests. We didn't want things to be difficult for them with taking too many days off for travel. And we Almost went to the court house to make it official - but we didn't.

    * So then my New "dream" was to have a leap day baby. Well, I was Close... but I still have 3 weeks to go. Guess I can always try again in 4 years. I've always thought leap day was an interesting day ever since I learned about it in 2nd grade.

I wouldn't mind if it had a special meaning to us. We mostly chose our wedding day based on our vacations (Im a teacher) so we're getting

    married in spring break :-)

I dunno, I wouldn't really want a leap day wedding, but I suppose you can just celebrate it on the 1st, but if others want to, it's no big deal..but really it's kinda funny that my DS and I got married on oct 29..so if it wasn't leap year we would not have had an exact 5 month anniversary!

I dunno about a wedding. Unless it had special meaning to me, maybe

But I have to say my good friend was due to have her baby March 19th via c-section but guess what? The baby came early. It came at 12:42 a.m. on Feb. 29th! It was very exciting!

I think it would be fun, especially if it has significance to you, it's probably a popular date, like 09/10/11 was this last year, especially when it happens to fall on a weekend.

I wanted to do it but since it was a Wednesday he said no.

I even tried for Friday the 13th or March 15th, both he said no on.

I was just talking about this at work to my two co-workers (who are men) and one said, no he would not want to get married on a leap day saying it would be weird to celebrate your anniversary on a different day than the wedding (you know like March 1st) and the other co-worker said, "who get's married on a Wednesday?" Ummm.. ME!! LOL - He forgot that I'm getting married in the middle of the week (on a Wednesday!) on our wedding cruise! LOL.

Why not? If you do not mind me asking why you say no thanks?

I plan to have my wedding on leap day on leap year..what is the difference between the 29th and the 1st that bothers people?
