Leaving the ceremony to "Hey ya"

KDS, on May 18, 2016 at 10:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20

Anyone else struggling with ceremony songs? I have googled best processional/bride entrance songs and have probably listened to 50 songs. Nothing feels right.

FH doesn't like anything overly slow/dramatic/sad. He wants something upbeat and fast, which feels weird for a bridal entrance. His brilliant idea is to exit the ceremony with to an instrumental version of "hey ya"....

Please share any tips for narrowing down songs or share your song(s)!

My current choice is an instrumental "here comes the sun". We are having a solo guitarist do our ceremony. We find it happy and upbeat without being over the top for us personally. EDIT: sorry I'm confused if you mean processional or recessional. We are doing this for recessional

For the bridal entrance we're doing the first part of At Last by Etta James. For the recessional we're doing the chorus if you will of It Takes Two by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock

Our processional is the batman theme song(he loves batman) and our reception entrance is Shotgun Rider by Tim McGraw.

I'm not entirely decided but I'm thinking "unchained melody" (instrumental as well) for myself and "first day of my life" (instrumental) for the bridal party and possibly groom too. I haven't decided because we need to clear one of the songs with my musician first and I'm not entirely sure if the songs all flow together well.

I think we have settled on "I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred for groom and grooms men, and "You're so Vain" by Carley Simon for the BMs (there is a story there). I haven't for my song decided...we love Stevie Nicks, so I'm thinking about Crystal...or maybe Leather and Lace by Fleetwood Mac.

    ETA: clarity

We exited to Yakety Sax (you know, from Benny Hill) and it was hilarious, so fun, and so us. Our guests loved it. Especially after all the tears shed by everyone during the ceremony.
