Leaving the Church

C.T.&J.J1014, on July 19, 2010 at 1:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So I've been thinking about this, today when most couples leave the church (or wherever) they throw things I need some help here, I don't want roses or bubbles I want something different I was thinking either going really old school and having rice thrown at me or drying out maple leaves and have those tossed to us, what do you think? I just really want something you don't see that much anymore.

At my wedding, the church didn't allow rice, due to wildlife coming around. (The church was in town) So my husband and I went with bird seed. As the previous poster said, be sure to ask.

Confetti is messy, but if you use big enough pieces it could be okay.

I've seen people use sparklers, but it gets smoky. I've seen them wave flags for a military wedding. You can do whatever you want that the church will allow!

I was going to do leaves as well...won't need to dry them, I'll just go rake the yard the week before! Will need to find some kind of cutesy bag to give them to people though...

Well its an afternoon wedding so Sparklers won't really be able to be seen I'm afraid and yeah I was trying to think of cutesy bags to put the leaves in and maybe bird seed, I've know a couple of couple who have used bird seed at outside the church, I just want something you don't see very often anymore, I want people to walk away from the wedding remembering the things we did rather it being just like every one else ya know?

LOL Fins, that too funny Smiley smile

We decided against the whole having people throw things because I was in a wedding in which the bride got hit in the eye with rice or bird seed that was thrown and ended up with a scratched cornea and her eye would not stop watering for the rest of the day and she ended up with a patch on their honeymoon. We are having bubble machines in the back of the church and that will be our exit.

We are doing bubbles because they look really cool in pictures. Be careful with bubbles though because the ones my cousin had put stains all over my mom's purple dress.

    .

Most places don't allow birdseed because they don't want all these birds all of the sudden on their front stairs. Also anything that is tossed, someone is going to probably have to stay back to clean it.

    .

Another of my cousin did butterflies. I have no clue where they got them, but everyone got an envelope that had a "sleeping" butterfly in it and by the time the wedding was over the butterflies were awake and flew off when the bride and groom exited. My butterfly was dead though...or still sleeping so it didn't leave the envelope when I opened it.

FMIL was born in Italy and apparently it is tradition there to throw Jordan Almonds at the bride and groom. After they pass all the kids get to gather them up to eat, she wants me to do it but I'm not sure how I feel about being hit with Jordan Almonds because that seems like it would hurt.

Lol that does seem like it might hurt a little tho, but sounds like a very nice tradition. But it also seems very different I've never heard that before.
