Hello everybody I am trying to figure out what the legal requirements are if you are a United States citizen looking to get married in Tulum/Quintano Roo Tankah Bay Area. Live in California, and I cannot find anywhere what is legal. I’ve been told I can arrive there the day before and just need bloodwork and then it’s fine I’ve also read that you have to arrive three days before get bloodwork and sometimes chest x-ray. Can anyone help? I really just want to celebrate one date not the day I got married then a ceremony a few days later on the actual wedding date I want.

Have you booked a venue? Your venue should provide the details to you, but from my experience bloodwork is the norm. However, it needs to be a civil ceremony not a religious one.
What you need:
1. current valid passports for both of you
2. tourist visa cards (this will be tucked into your passport at the Cancun airport)
3. 4 legally qualified witnesses (over 18 years of age) with their passports and tourist visas
4. an application stating that you wish to marry (given to you by your wedding coordinator)
5. medical certificate and blood test results, (done in Mexico no more than 15 days before the wedding)
6. Everything except your passports needs a Spanish translation by a certified translator and notarization by the Mexican consulate.
7. An officiant from the civil registry of the local municipality of Mexico must perform your ceremony if you want a legal marriage in Mexico. You cannot bring an officiant of your own
