Length of rehearsal dinner

Rehearsal dinner is being hosted by grooms parents from mid to late afternoon the day before. The email says it will be 3 hours long!! There is no cocktail hour. What is there to do for 3 hours? Is it acceptable to leave before the official end? I might add the reason we don’t want to stay that long is that we have friends and relatives coming in from out of town who were not invited and we’d like to visit with them. Will probably also still have some baking to go, too.

    The one I was at earlier this year was 5 hours. Cocktail hour, dinner and after party. I think you’ll be surprised how fast 3 hours flies with speeches and gift exchanges and dinner depending on what you choose to do.

    Ours is 3 hours with a cocktail hour. We have some games and speeches planned. Usually you’ll give out gifts to your bridal party. Introduce family that have never met.

    Ours was 4 hours and it flew by. No cocktail hour, just a standard 4 course meal. We only had the speeches we gave before giving the bridal party and parents their gifts but besides that everyone was just having a good time eating, drinking, talking etc.

    We shut down the restaurant and went back to the hotel and had an after party! (I left early from that because I was like um I'll see you tomorrow I have to sleep!)

    The ones I've been to are 2-3 hours, not including the rehearsal. We are planning for 2-3 hours for ours.
