Length of your processional song?

Michelle, on August 19, 2021 at 3:04 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4

How many guests did you have (to determine how far you have to walk) and how long was the music? Did you have to cut it off at any point?

It's moreso the length of the aisle (where you start) and how slow you walk than how many guests you have. Our venue had stairs that we walked down and I ended up fading my song out around 1:40 which worked out perfectly. I wanted to make sure that the song didn't cut in a weird spot like in the middle of a word or something. I'd say check with your venue and play your song to see if there's a good cut off for you.

We had a live pianist, so she was able to improvise and trail the music out once she saw I reached the front of the aisle. This was one of the main reasons I wanted a live ceremony musician.

I would say she played about 45 seconds of the song, because we had a small ceremony and a small ceremony space. She started before I walked out in order to signify that the bride was entering, and then elegantly tapered it off when I reached the front of the aisle and stopped.

Hi ! It was a little bit different for us, as we got married in a city hall (it's obligatory in France) and they told us that we must have a background music non stop for the whole ceremony. So I had to find a wersion of Pachelbel that takes 20 minutes ;-)

I didn't really think about that because i used an instrumental. it was my bride's walk i was concerned about since i was timing it where i walk right when the singer said specific words haha. that's kind of the good thing about a rehearsal is that you get to see how fast or slow the song would be with people's pace
