Let them eat Cake!

How did you decide where to go cake tasting? FH and I really need to get that done. How did you choose? Obviously we will look at reviews, but we'd rather not go lots of different places to find out where we want to get our cake as cake tastings aren't free.

I found my bakery on this site and was sooo happy with them. They didn’t charge for the cake tasting but maybe that’s because I ended up going with them. Do your homework....read reviews, check their website and FB pages, see if they’ve done the style cake you want, etc. make sure you give them pictures of you know what you want to make it easier for them to achieve your dream cake. Good luck!

Thank you! We have an idea (or rather I have an idea) of what is wanted, it's just a matter of execution.

Maybe it's regional, but most cake tastings in my area are free. We've done one tasting so far and have two more scheduled, we're hoping that we'll choose one of those three. We based where we would do tastings off of reviews and flavor selections, then we'll make our decision based on price and quality.

Yeah oddly a lot of the tastings in my area are $20-$25!

My husband and I were lucky and did not have to do a tasting. The baker we used has made multiple cakes for us in the past and we knew she would not let us down.

We looked at reviews on WW, Yelp, and got referrals from our venue. We narrowed them down by estimated costs and proximity to the venue since we wanted to keep delivery costs down. From there we also looked at their pictures to see if their styles matched ours. We ended meeting with 2 on the same day and made our decision.

Reviews first. After calling for quotes (we only wanted a one-tier cake we could pick up ourselves and some bakers had minimums), we chose two places to visit. We made the required appointment at one and it was so good we placed our order then and skipped visiting the second! 🍰

We went to 3 cake and dessert tastings and were not charged for any of the 3. We decided by of course comparing prices and tastes.we also looked at reviews and we enjoy that the bakery we picked had previously work with our venue

Thankfully, I'm getting married in my hometown so I already had my eyes set on where I'd like to order our cake from.
In March, we did our first tasting with the bakery who is contracted through my venue; wasn't impressed and I knew I wasn't going to be. I don't really like this particular bakery.
Memorial day weekend, we had a tasting with my favorite bakery in town and ordered the cake.
