I had my very first successful alterations appointment on Tuesday. [THANK YOU 2ND BRIDE FOR YOUR RECOMMENDATION!!!] Surprisingly, it was the very first time I had ever looked at, or even thought about a bustle. My wedding gown is quite simple so I had a difficult time deciding on something I liked. If I was crazy I’d just take scissors and cut off the train after the ceremony! I haven’t seen too many posts on WW regarding the different types so I thought this would be a good post to see what everyone else plans to do.

As we all probably know, Bustles are used to lift the long trains of wedding gowns off the floor. Typically it’s lifted with buttons, pearls or ties (ribbon in my case) to create a style that’s practical. There are different types of bustle options. What type are you planning on getting?

I'm not sure what "type" of bustle I had. My seamstress called it an underbustle, but it was nothing like the underbustles posted on here. What she did essentially was just fold the train up under the dress and tie it up there so it didn't change the look of the back of my dress at all. These are the best pics I have. First is my train without the bustle (obv) and the second is during the reception after the bustle.

ETA: Just found this pic from the father daughter dance. You can kinda see the back of my dress/bustle a little better

Edited Again: I guess its called a ballroom bustle. I found this post describing it on weddingbee http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/08/25/ballroom-bustle-train-flip-how-to/

I love how that bustle doesn't change the look of the dress!

Thanks Hayley, my dress is a sweep train but I don't think it's as long as the one posted. I wonder if I can get away with 3point bustle. I am thinking about changing dress midway through the night.

Was trying to post pic but I'm having problems doing so tonight!

Hey Mrs. B-Baby ~ I was getting distracted.... the 7 point was an idea for Tammy and I forgot to go back and add her name at first.

Do you know the designer and the style # .... maybe a stock picture will help us brainstorm too!

I really like the Austrian bustle, but not sure if it would work with my dress. I guess I'll have to ask and find out...
