We rented ours from our cake baker for $15. I didn't feel the need to waste money on a cake stand I would never use again.

Yea, they are pretty expensive for something you will never use again. Our cake baker had a large variety of stands to choose from. We paid $15 (I saw the exact same stand on Amazon for $55) and she let us keep it for 7 days. It worked out perfectly.
