So ORIGINALLY i was set on getting a nice wood slab and have everyone sign it. I had it all planned out. I work for a very large company that does exotic lumber and live edge slabs so I had it tested out on sample pieces and I was thrilled. The lead finisher at my job walked me through it and showed me everything and my job was going to gift us the slab and we would just have to pay for it to be finished once it was all signed or we could opt to finish it ourselves. I definitely wanted the finisher to do it because I didn't want to ruin anything. We tested pens and markers and found the best brands that worked. Long story short my lead finisher left and we have someone new! Shes great I just don't know.... I didn't go through the entire process with her and how it was going to be done and now its so close that I just don't know if it would be worth attempting. So i started thinking of other ideas.

I'm pretty curious what everyone else is doing. Let me know which of my ideas you like best and tell me what you decided on! I'm 2 months out!

1.) Frame this and do fingerprints with a name next to eachcfb_1250139.jpg2.) old school, this would trigger nostalgia. I love this idea as well but idk about how expensive film would be and how hard it could get for guests if they have to change out the film every so often and what not. cfb_1250141.jpg3.) This was my original idea and turning the slab into a side table! cfb_1250143.jpg

4.) Keeping with the wood theme this would be super cute and a lot easier for my to do without help from someone else cfb_1250145.jpg5.) More wood ideas but not a slab. This would be a prefinished piece and use markers on surface and then r- varnish but again... idk. I love the idea of using it or hanging it somewhere which is why I keep coming back to wood ideas (plus easily accessible through my job) cfb_1250147.jpg

I'm doing the polaroid camera one! I bought the cameras used on ebay (total $60 for 2) and about $100 worth of film. I bought a scrap book and other items (glue, pens, stickers) for about $70. I also found on etsy a graphic of how to change film, so I printed it out and laminated it. It's not super cheap, but I will be glad to have an item with photos of everyone. My day-of-coordinator said that she will be pushing people to take photos and we're going to have it set up next to the bar at all times.

We got this at Hobby Lobby. It's the beautiful chaos one. We got sharpies for people to sign with!

I bought two of these cameras from Walmart and 2 orders of this film from Amazon. The film is a twin pack so it has 20 pictures per box and is sold in groups of three. As far as changing film goes I will have someone at the guestbook table to assist with that just to be sure it is done correctly.

We are doing something similar to #4! Originally, we planned on doing a polaroid book, but it just seemed like more trouble than it was worth and it would just be easier for our guests to sign the board than trying to figure out the cameras.

I got an oversized wood framed board (its probably like 3ft wide) from Hobby Lobby's clearance. Its a blank slate and I plan to write a little saying on it and then have everyone sign it.

We're doing the polaroid one! I LOVE how the pictures turn out, and since our wedding is a year away we're going to slowly stock up on the packs of film since they are pricey. But so worth it!

Are you concerned about guests switching film? Thats my biggest concern otherwise I would have already committed to this idea. I'm just nervous someone will jam it trying to change film and I don't have anyone that could change it out everytime its needed.

I think it'll be okay! I bought the fujifilm instax one and it seems pretty self explanatory. But if you're concerned about it, maybe have someone you trust stand there while guests enter and change it out when need be? That way someone will be there to greet them and it'll take that worry off of you

I love your 3rd & 4th options! We're going with a fingerprint mural. A family friend is going to paint a deer like with this our names & wedding date on it. Smiley smile

We are doing something similar to #4. We bought ours though, at Hobby Lobby. We bought gold and bronze sharpies for everyone to use to sign it.

I totally Love the idea of a side table being made with it. That is super unique. We went with a Disney photo collage that people will sign the white space. I wanted something that was a little bit different but still showed our Disney theme.

I painted a canvas with my soon to be last name and am going to have people sign it. I changed it a little since this point, but this is the basic idea.

When I read the reviews on that camera a lot said that it takes great pictures for the first like 10 but after that it doesn't work anymore. Did you read any of the reviews? Have you started taking pictures with it yet to make sure it works good.

Choose a guestbook that you will actually want displayed in your home for years to come. So many guestbooks end up somewhere in storage, never to be seen again.
For me thumb print idea is too messy for guests (getting fingers “dirty”) & too cheesy to hang - it reminds me of primary school projects 🤷🏻‍♀️
Polaroid photo guestbook is always fun to look back at & people love taking Polaroid pictures! Changing film is easy & you could ask a close person/family member to keep an eye on this.
I personally couldn’t see hanging any of the wooden slabs with signatures in our home. I’d get sick of looking at them after 6 months lol. But if you would love it on a display, then go with the one that’s easiest to DIY!
We are doing bucket list guestbook where guests will write fun ideas for a date night, trip, or adventure for us to go on! This way we’ll get something useful & fun that we can actually do! And it was super easy to make, I made acrylic sign & cards to write on & we will have a “bucket” to put it in.

We're having guests sign wine bottle corks, then they will be placed in the jug. My venue actually had hundreds of corks in containers when we toured it and I mentioned that i collect them( my kitchen has a wine theme) and they gave me all of them!
