Let’s talk wedding favors?

Rebecca, on December 10, 2021 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 33
I’m Really on the fence about weather or not we need wedding favors. We are having a very small wedding so it wouldn’t be much of an expensive…I’m just not sure if they are relevant and if they are what I should get…Who uses them and if so what did you choose ?

If you do decide to do favors, it's usually one per person. And if you decide to skip them, no one will notice or care, so if they're not in budget or you can't decide on anything you like, skip them and save the money. It's totally up to you. Favors can be a nice touch if there's something specific that you have in mind that really represents you and your fiance, but also keep in mind that favors are often left behind. If you decide to do them, choose something that you wouldn't mind having leftovers of. Edible favors (cookies, chocolate, etc) are typically more popular, but also depends on your crowd.

You don't have to do them, I've never noticed when I didn't get a favor...but we did blankets as our wedding favors and people LOVED them. I got cheaper ones from Amazon and Groupon, they were like $3 a piece...we had 100 people though. But people told us how they loved getting the blankets because they could keep them in their car or use as a spare in the house or even let their pets use them. Some other favorites I've gotten: my SIL did pretzels at the end of the night and it was such a nice way to end the evening. My other SIL did individual little cakes from a local shop she loved, so we had like apple crumb cake and I forget what the other one was but both really good. My best friend used a local soda vendor, Avery's sodas, and she had them make labels for their wedding and everyone got a different flavor of soda. So mostly I guess I love the food ones hahaha.

We had a small (50 person) wedding and didn't do wedding favors. Many experts and bloggers, such as Jamie Wolfer (a wedding planner YouTuber) recommend skipping them, as they are an unnecessary expense and waste and often get left behind. None of our guests complained that we didn't have favors.

Because we went on vacation a few days after, we ended up driving house to house the day after the wedding see guests who lived locally to thank them for coming and gifting them mini bouquets and beer left from the wedding. We had bud vases as table decor (instead of big centerpieces) so it was really easy to combine the flowers into small arrangements and gift those (I used recycled bottles I had been collecting as vessels). Those little drops of sunshine were really appreciated!

Our wedding favors were moonshine (a friend of our family makes it) and a shot glass. We figured people can reuse the jar and who wouldn’t want a free shotglass.

I don’t think anyone will notice or care if you decided not to do them. In my opinion, I always feel bad when I go to a wedding and I really don’t want to take the favor but I do and then end up tossing it. A lot of times it’s just not useful for the guest. We did scratch offs. We planned a big wedding but cancelled due to covid. We had planned on $2 scratch offs per person. We ended up having a 10 person reception and we got $10 scratch offs instead. It was a lot of fun and no one had to feel bad about taking something home and throwing it away when they were tired of seeing it on the counter.

We had no idea what favours to pick because honestly they seem so unnecessary and often get left behind, but at the same time they are a nice gesture... So we decided to give our favours after the wedding: we'll be sending our guests photos of themselves from that day. We've already spoken to our photographer to try to capture everyone. I though: who wouldn't want to get a professional picture of themselves from a day when they've probably looked their best?

We didn’t do favors but we did write a personalized handwritten note on the inside of the escort cards thanking our guest for being there, commenting on a memory we had with them, etc. People LOVED them and thought they were so personal and thoughtful.

I was also on the fence about wedding favors, but we decided to do shot glasses so that way our guests could use it during the reception. So, it's totally up to you! You can always do little boxes of chocolates or candies.

I am doing small favor boxes with candy inside .
Purchased the boxes on efavors.com 100 but I don’t remember how much they were . The ribbon on Amazon for about $6.99 and I got a bag of Buttermints 100 for $24
Originally we thought about doing cups with our wedding date and all that but sadly after a while those either get lost or get thrown away. Why waste so much money I know the candy will get eaten from the boxes at least lol Let’s talk wedding favors? 2

For our wedding we had a candy buffet and containers and a sign that said “love is sweet thanks for coming don’t forget to make a treat” or something like that I can’t find the picture of them🤦🏻‍♀️ But we put out a bunch of candy and boxes and out guests got to pick and fill a box and take it home as there favors and it was pretty inexpensive as well

I’m leaning towards key-shaped bottle openers, as we have a lot of vintage touches in our decor and venue. Let’s talk wedding favors? 3

Hey there! You could always do something edible like a bottle of wine, home baked cookies, favorite seasonings, coffee, etc. that way people can use them and won’t forget them at the end of the night. Or you could do welcome bags in place of wedding favors.

I am only doing wedding favors because so many older people are attending and I don't think I want to hear about how "rude" we were to not get wedding favors for our guests. I don't think anyone in our generation actually cares but it's a courtesy thing to older guests. I just found the cheapest ones I could. Keep it simple girl!

    We’re doing “midnight snack boxes”
I know a lot of people that don’t even keep wedding favors and snack boxes I think will then be used and worth the money
