Letters before ceremony

Diandrea, on December 20, 2011 at 2:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

Someone gave me the cutest idea and it adds a lttlle more love to your special day. My future husband and I will be writing letters to each other the day before the wedding and having my maid of honor drop my letter off to him and his best man drop his letter off to me in order to read before the ceremony! I thought the idea was cute and wanted to share.

My DH and I exchanged cards! Loved it! But a friend of mine married not long after me and her husband wrote her a really long letter that she wasn't able to read because of all the emotions that day so she waited until after the ceremony. Just a thought because I'm sure you don't want to be a sappy mess BEFORE the ceremony .. lol

I would love to do this! Hopefully I can talk my FH into doing it....he isn't so good at expressing his feelings into words. lol

I am a wedding officiant, and I've had couples write letters to one another sharing why they wish to spend the rest of their lives with the other - and then read their letter to the other during the ceremony. If you can handle the emotion - it makes for a very meaningful addition to your ceremony.

    Many blessings!

We did this. To us it was a great way to share our feelings without saying vows to each other in front of 200 people (DH is really shy). We exchanged letters in the morning, long before my makeup and I carry it with me daily.

We exchanged letters prior...DH sent his letter to me via text message...I took the time to write it on a card that was completely and utterly funny and totally our relationship.

We also did the love note and wine box ceremony so that in 5 years we get to read why we got married in the first place. My husband is huge on wine so it just makes since for us.

I've also heard of exchanging letters or vows (that you wrote) after the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.

We are writing our own vows and FH is WAY better with putting his feelings into words, so if he wrote me a letter on top of that, I wouldnt know what to do! My biggest fear is looking completely dumb when we do vows because mine will be eh ok and his will be amazing.

I actually just found 2 cards to give him prior.. I plan on sending him one every hour all morning! Now I just have to keep looking and find a very secret spot for the ones I have! Haha.
