Hi, is anyone in here planning a same-sex wedding?

My name is Ellie, and I'm engaged to Sam. I'm 29 and she's 28. As you can asume, we're both women. I proposed to her after two and a half years of relationship, and she wasn't expecting it. We're getting married the 10 of september, 2022, but we wanted to start planning already. A friend of mine recomended me this website, so we're planning it here, but it seems this is a straight wedding website. There isn't the option to choose the gender of the integrants of the couple. I just wanted to know if there were any LGBTQA+ members that could share their experience.

Thank you so much.

Congratulations , my fiancé and I got engaged in November of 2020 and our wedding will be July 2022. We decided to check this site out because of a friend who recommended it. It's a very helpful sight but I get what you mean I actually reached out to weddingwire because I was upset all icons were male female based. I've found that a lot people are pretty supportive on this website tho.

    Best of luck!!

Congratulations! I found this site to be very friendly for me and my wife to use- but a poor fit for our very DIY wedding lol. I liked the vendor-vetting it does, I just didn’t need it as much. The heteronormativity gets old, but there’s always gems of advice that work if you can get past the assumptions.

Welcome to WW and congratulations to you and your fiancée! I am not a member of the community but have definitely seen other LGBTQ+ specific posts pop up in the forums.

On the industry in general: It is definitely slow going but the industry is changing. The city I live in has a weddings magazine that is released twice a year. The spring/summer issue had a whole section focusing on vendors that were LGBTQ+ friendly and two of the five weddings they showcased were of same-sex couples.

Yep! My fiancée and I are getting married August of 2022. I haven’t come across any “straight” things on the site so far. Everything has been pretty inclusive. But if I’m being honest I probably wouldn’t pay attention even if I did lol. I have tunnel vision like that. I have signed up for probably 6 different websites and WW has honestly been the best so far.

But anywho, congratulations!! & enjoy planning. Don’t fret the small things. Wedding planning is stressful enough lol.

Is this true? Me and my partner have been turned away by both a venue and a baker at this point because he's trans. We found both on here.

(dont worry we found better ones)

It is. I’m sorry that you had those experiences. I would definitely pass that feedback onto WeddingWire so their pages can be taken down and other couples won’t have to deal with that.
