Literally "Tying the Knot" - Song Suggestions Needed

Kara, on September 2, 2011 at 11:28 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

So, we're doing a bunch of different things during our ceremony and the pastor said he's going to do the traditional binding of our hands in marriage (tying the knot, as it were) -- well, he put it much more eloquently, but I can't remember how he described it. LOL

For this small part of the ceremony, he said we should find a nice little song to play to kind of fill the void (as it will be pretty silent for a few minutes as he ties our hands and guests look on) ... and also suggested to fade in/out the same song as he unties them after he's done that particular piece of the ceremony.

We're doing classical or acoustic songs for all of our ceremony music ... even if it's a classic-styled version of a popular/modern song.

Any song suggestions for this particular part of our ceremony?

We are using Storybook Love from The Princess Bride for our processional. The instrumental version is 4 minutes long, with 4 very separate parts. We are using the first 3 minutes

1 for him to walk into the church

1 minute for me to walk down the aisle

1 minute to compose ourselves before the ceremony.

Its a beautiful little piece by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. That may work for you. here's a link so you can take a listen

@ Julie R. -- I was wondering what the general timeframe was for the walk down the aisle (guess it depends how much distance you have to travel) ... I'll be walking down to "Nothing Else Matters" (but the Apocalyptica version ... not the lyric/sung one by Metallica) and it's 3 min. long ... didn't want to be doing the step-together-step-together thing to drag it out, but I'll definitely take a more leisurely stroll with my dad on the day of to make the song last a bit ;-) hehehe

I'll give those songs a listen too though -- thanks for adding to the list others have started! I appreciate it! :-)
