My Mom hired one out of NYC, to surprise my sister, at her wedding. it was $1100 a few years ago - and he was the cheapest one she could find. Some wanted a minimum-sized canvas, which would have ended up being quite large.

I have never seen a finished product that looked anything like the wedding nor would I display in my home.

If you're wanting a painting from your wedding, I would suggest having an artist recreate a portrait from one of your wedding photos.

Yes! We are having one at our wedding! Her name is Katherine Gressel and she does amazing work. Look her up on Instagram. She is located in Brooklyn but I think she does travel. Not sure what her travel fees would be though :/

Nastassia - what they do is they take a bunch of pictures (during the first dance usually) and then paint that picture during the course of your wedding. Then by the end of your wedding while people are walking out they will see the finished product. The painter usually gets there 4 hours before the event and starts to paint the background.

I think that if you have it in the budget, it would be a very nice surprise for your FH. We hired her without it being a surprise to either of us.
