Live streaming??

Jenni, on February 13, 2022 at 6:14 PM Posted in Planning 1 8
So I have a huge family, many of which my fiancée hasn’t even met in the past 3.5 years we’ve been together (thanks COVID!) But we cannot invite everyone because we don’t want 200+ guest list. So I cam up with the idea of live streaming it so I know we can do that on Facebook but wondered if anyone has used a different, better service.

Are you having a videographer? I would start there and see if that's a service they can add onto your package.

Well a friend is doing videography. She’s amazing and I have reached out to her but thought I’d see what others have done as well.

We have used a service - they do amateur sports events, weddings and funerals, naming ceremonies, stuff like that. It's WAY cheaper than a videographer because it's just a fixed camera in one spot. I'd highly recommend looking into something similar!

The company provide the link to give to your guests, there's a facility for people to leave comments, and it stays up for several months after the event, so that people don't have to watch it live - this was important for us because it's 4am in some of the countries where our relatives live who will be watching!

It IS possible to do it yourself with a go pro type camera and facebook live or youtube live or whatever, and we originally planned to ask my BIL to do it for us with his phone because he had a friend do this for his wedding to my sister. But, when we looked into it, there was so much equipment to buy and so many things to manage yourself and things that could go wrong that it seemed much less stressful and time consuming to just pay the professionals - it ended up costing less than $700AUD, which seemed super reasonable to have that peace of mind, and was only one or two hundred dollars more than if we'd bough the equipment ourselves.

For me I just did fb live but made a group specifically for watching the wedding. A lot of people who watched it were older so I figured they would be most comfortable on fb. Turned out well I’d say. We also had someone recorded our wedding.

I was thinking Facebook too because Apple and android works with it. The idea of a private group is awesome! I didn’t think of that!
