Livestream Options / Help

Namanda, on May 6, 2021 at 2:28 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 13
We have some guests that will be viewing our wedding online. I want it to go smoothly for them & I'm hesitant about Zoom due to non tech savvy guests. A friend recommended Facebook Live but, I'm unsure if it's accessible to non FB users?. What are some good livestreaming options for a virtual wedding? What were you experiences? Also I'd like to know about other platforms used. Side note: We don't plan to record the wedding with a phone. We have a nice laptop & webcam attachment we plan to use.

Have you heard of LoveCast? That is the app we will be using and its a one way streaming service where all you need is your guests’ email to send them the streaming link. It’s free and it allows your guests to view and hear your wedding but not vise versa (so no issues with guests not muting themselves, etc)

Okay that sounds awesome! I've been to Zoom Weddings where there was a big issue with some guests not knowing how to mute themselves. Can you only use Lovecast by mobile? Or does it work for the host on a Laptop too?

I absolutely stand by LoveCast, since that's what we used and it was perfect! It also saves the recording to your device and your account, so you can watch it later. LoveCast is an app, so it would be run on a phone or tablet. Ours was recorded on my sister's boyfriend's phone from the second row and it was just fine. Both video and sound quality were great. And you technically don't even need to send the link out by email. We just posted the link in the live stream section of our wedding website and guests were able to tune in from there.

Is there a particular reason you're so adamant about using the laptop and not a phone? From an in-person guest perspective, a phone is much less intrusive and is definitely preferred for live streaming.

Thank you for the review! Smiley smile I'm starting to really lean toward Lovecast. I haven't seen any other solid options online just yet. I was adamant about the laptop because I was worried about the phone video quality. But today I realized my webcam actually can connect to my phone lol so I think I'll go with using the phone. You're so right! A laptop could possibly be seen as intrusive now that I think about it!

You're very welcome! In case you want to check out what our quality was like, I've attached the link to our site and video with them. There are multiple videos, but that's because the internet connection wasn't great where we were. Any streaming platform you use will need a good enough internet connection, so assuming you have that you shouldn't have a problem with the videos being broken up. But at least this can give you an idea of what the phone camera and sound quality was for us!

Of course! I also liked that guests were able to send a little message during the ceremony and we were still able to see them later.

Yup! It was super helpful for us since we didn't have anyone's email address and it would've been a pain to try and collect them all. Just being able to post the link worked out really well.

Zoom is very uncomplicated as far as video sharing platforms go, and the host retains the ability to mute everyone. The free version of Zoom does have a time limit and guest limit on events, so if you are planning a ceremony longer than 45 minutes or to have more than 100 guests viewing you would need to have a paid account to host your ceremony. Facebook Live, as I understand it, is not viewable by those without FB accounts (I could be wrong) and also can sensor copyrighted music, so you run the risk of it cutting out if your processional song is flagged as being copyright infringement. I personally wouldn't use FB for anything, but I dislike the platform and deleted my account several years ago, so am pretty biased.

WOW! I had no idea this was out there! I have created a Google Meets but I think LoveCast will be an even better option!
