Logistically, how would i decorate an arch for the ceremony with real flowers?

Angela, on October 27, 2020 at 8:47 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8

Hi all,

Has anyone had any success in decorating their wedding arch with fresh flowers before the ceremony? I am in the planning stage and thinking of all the moving parts on the day-of. Regarding the arch I saved A BUNCH of photos on pinterest with fresh flower arches, but now I'm wondering if that's actually feasible. Has anyone done this successfully, and how? Do the arrangements ahead of time and stick them in water until just before ?

Here are more details -

Our venue is a golf course and we do have access to their cold storage + set up the day before.

We are not getting ready at the venue, but we are a a short drive away. Ceremony starts 430 pm.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Do you have a florist? Typically that is what they do. If not, then who is setting up for you? Someone here recently suggested attaching them with zipties found at the local hardware store

Zipties is a fabulous idea, thank you for that!

No florist, buying from a local farm.

    Thanks!

We had a chuppah (not an arch but it was full of fresh flowers). Our florist took care of the decorating. I believe the decorating process took about 2 hours. If you're doing it yourself, I would consult some tutorials online, buy a couple bouquets of fresh flowers (ideally the same type of flowers you plan to use for your wedding), and practice with a small section of your arch before your wedding day so you get the hang of it

We had a chuppah and the flowers used to decorate it where a mixture of real and fake. Our florist handled cutting and putting together all of the ceremony decor, bouquets, centerpieces, etc. the morning of the wedding.

My florist set everything up shortly before the wedding. If you have a DOC they could also do it

Daughter's florist arranged the flowers into foam blocks that were encased in some netting or something. The foam allowed her to arrange the flowers the night before. She used zipties to attach the arrangements to the arch. After the ceremony & photos, she cut the ties and moved the arrangements to the Sweetheart table.

We had our florist decorate our arch for us. She arrived around 11:00 a.m. and decorated the arch and our tables. Our ceremony was at 5:30 p.m. and she had plenty of time to get everything done. I would suggest having your florist do it so 1- you know it will look good and 2- you don't have to take of the stress of doing it yourself!

If you use foam for fresh flowers, you can "green" out the foam a couple of days before and add flowers the night before.
