Long aisle walk remedies?

Lalaluna, on November 13, 2017 at 10:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Hi ladies! My venue is a historic hotel, and there is quite a long walk from where I'll be hiding to walk down the aisle to the ceremony spot. It's a wide open space with manicured grass (gold course). don't really want to be exposed for too long from such a distance so was thinking of making an entry way type thing with a curtain to hide behind somewhere between the hotel and actual aisle with the bridal party to minimize the awkward walk. Has anyone had a similar situation? What did you do? don't want the structure to look weird in the middle of open space either, but I'm not sure how close to put it to the aisle. Any ideas to problem solve the situation? Pictures are appreciated too! I'm on Pinterest but haven't been able to find a good example of Thais scenario. Thanks!

The ceremony will be down by the trees. This picture illustrates most of the walk!

But it would be cool to see the bride walking to the ceremony from that far! With the beautiful dress! I LOVE IT! Why don't you like it? It would still be just a few minutes :-) team #longwalk!

What if you make something symmetrical at the end of the aisle, with a trifold setup, vintage doors, or a curtain...

I have a long walk too. We tried rearranging where the arch would go, but really, the longest walk has the prettiest background, so looks like I'm in for a hike.

Thanks everyone so far! I think my biggest reason for wanting to break up the walk with curtains/doors etc would be to reduce the awkwardness I'll probably feel. I always envisioned more of a dramatic reveal especially with the music I’ve chosen (the main instrumental song from the Princess Bride nerd alert)!. We're also not having a bridal party so the processional will just be my fiancé's parents and him, and both my parents will walk me down. I added this picture which is the closest thing I could find of the view from where I'll be walking to. The ceremony spot is between two trees beside the pavilion. Just to give more of a sense of the space I'm working with!

I'm also getting married on a golf course. We're setting up huge antique doors between trees that will make the walk not so long.

I had a long walk. It will give you time to process the beautiful setting.

That is a LONG walk! I like the idea of having curtains or big antique doors & riding in a golf cart. Last year my friend just had some tall bushes that lined the back side of the ceremony chairs & that helped to cover her a bit!

Thank you, Nikki! That’s a good idea, I’ll talk to the coordinator and see what she thinks! So far she’s been so accommodating, there was literally only 1 thing we wanted we couldn’t do and I totally understand why (no sky lanterns due to fire hazard on the golf course), so maybe she’d have some good suggestions. Thanks everyone!

The key to solving this issue could be as easy as having the attention Diverted from your walk with the bridal party.... while they are walking in you can make your walk to the "entrance" and then the music changes everyone stands and there you are!
