My fiance proposed on January 26th 2019. This is my second marriage and we are paying for everything ourselves, so we're planning a longer than traditional engagement to allow ourselves to budget and save up slowly as opposed to going broke planning the wedding. We also both work over 40 hours a week and don't have a ton of time to devote to the planning

Our wedding date is 1/2/21, anyone else have a long engagement planned?

Same here. I‘M in nursing school, and do not finish until May 2021. Also working full time as well. It’s crazy, but I feel it gives us the perfect amount of time.

We got engaged March of this year and were ball parking to have our wedding March 2021 we are planning to have a destination Wedding so we wanted to give out guest plenty of time to make arrangements for the wedding. We are also about to embark on a cross country move so we decided to shoot for 2021. With everything going on we want to make sure we have plenty of time to plan (and save)and not feel rush throughout the process and being able to enjoy the moment.

Yup got engaged September 2018 and getting married May 2020 luckily we have family paying for it but we both agreed we wanted to plan stress free and we both really wanted an outdoor spring wedding but now we’re a year away and times moving quickly now enjoy the engagement as much as possible!

My wedding is set for 21st of August 2021. My fiance proposed on 22nd of December 2018. We decided to wait so long because we are very young right now (18 and 19) and we want to make sure we will actually last. Also, we have to pay for our own wedding so we need time to save up.

We have already been engaged for 3 years. Our wedding date is 7/3/21. We have been waiting because weddings are so expensive and we have two small children already!

Hey girlie! I’m a 2021 bride to be as well. I’m currently in medical school and graduate in spring 2021. A long engagement really is best for us because I’m taking my first licensing exam this summer and have zero time to do or plan anything for the next 5 months. My fiancé who graduates this winter, proposed the night before my birthday on March 26, 2019. We’ve always dreamed of an NYE wedding so our date is set for Dec 31st, 2021. We are also paying for our wedding solo so it will be nice that I’ll be working at that time to help financially. People keep pushing us to different things like have the wedding sooner, have a small destination wedding, have a backyard wedding, but we know what we want and that’s to wait Smiley smile

My fiancé proposed in October of 2018 and we aren’t getting married until October of 2021. We decided that since we both graduate in 2020, we’d like to have our careers started before our wedding. This way, we can accumulate the finances, and the time off we would like for our honeymoon! We also both would like children right away after marriage, so we are taking this time (our extra long engagement 😉) to travel and enjoy being the 2 of us!

We were planning a long engagement but. Our venue that we fell in love with had an opening this summer for discounted pricing since it was last minute.

Our engagement was cut short and it was a 5 month engagement.

Sometimes I envy the brides who are having a long engagement because it would be nice to have more time to plan and save!

I actually got engaged the same day as you and we decided to get married that February. Our families live in two separate countries and we want everyone to be present for this big moment in our lives, organizing not only a big event but also international travel is just a lot to manage in a short period of time

Our proposal was in May 2016 and we’re getting married in September 2019. All my coworker friends got engaged and married within that span of time. One coworker even met their spouse, got engaged, got married, and their first kid will be born before my wedding xD

Currently getting our first home situated and then saving for the wedding so we can take our time and not be rushed. I think this really helps financially. 😊

That makes so much sense, I was really going back and forth on whether to do 2019 or 2020, for a lot of the reasons you described! I ended up going with 2019, but everyone is different there’s nothing wrong with having a long engagement!

My fiancé and I have been together for 15 years this coming June. He originally proposed 6 months after we met back in 2004. We were both young and in no place to think about marriage or planning a marriage. We stayed together and 15 years later we have three children and two cats lol. He proposed again April 1st 2019 which I though was an April fools joke lol. Our date is June 2021. We are doing everything ourselves and with life and three children ages 12, 10, and 7 we NEEDED time lol. We booked the venue already and we are currently trying to put together a guest list. It's going to be a long non stressful process lol

My fiance and I have been together since 2009, I proposed to him in July of 2018, and we had already been thinking 2021 would be best for us. He still wants to propose to me, and this gives him time to do that and us time to plan everything.

Ours is about the same length. He proposed December 26th, 2018 and our wedding date is October 24th, 2020. Just two months and two days shy of two full years. We’re also paying for it ourselves. We both work and have two boys so we decided to have the longer engagement so we could save enough for the wedding and a planner.

We got engaged in December 2018, and our wedding is set for January 2021. I wanted to give myself plenty of time to plan, and I also didn't want to worry about vendors potentially being booked for my desired date. On top of that, my fiance and I are planning to pay for the wedding entirely on our own. Having a long engagement allows us a long time to save up and puts way less stress on how much we have to save each month!!

My fiancé just proposed to me on March 26th 2019 and our wedding date is January 23rd 2021 for the same reason. We’ve each been married once before and will be paying for this ourselves. We’re also trying to buy our first home. Both of these things are quite expensive. We would rather set the wedding a little further out and give ourselves time to save money comfortably than try to pinch every penny for a year and hope it’s enough.
