My fiance proposed on January 26th 2019. This is my second marriage and we are paying for everything ourselves, so we're planning a longer than traditional engagement to allow ourselves to budget and save up slowly as opposed to going broke planning the wedding. We also both work over 40 hours a week and don't have a ton of time to devote to the planning

Our wedding date is 1/2/21, anyone else have a long engagement planned?

My fiancé just proposed to me last week! We’ve decided to get married in 2021 because he’s finishing up a doctorate so we want to be able to both be working by the time we’re married. I wouldn’t called 2 years a super long engagement! It’s nice to meet more 2021 brides!

We both made the decision to have our wedding June 2021. We’re also in different states at the moment. I like that we’re waiting. It gives us time to focus on us and not get so wrapped up in planning (as I’m already starting to do). I decided to just hire a planner being that we’re having the wedding back home. I created a budget that we both think it’s doable. Just thinking about the day I get nervous but excited. We haven’t decided on date just month and year.

My Fiance proposed April 27, 2019. We just set our date for April 10, 2021.

My mom works in wedding industry, and I used to work in the wedding industry (now hotels). I have seen it doesn't take long to plan a wedding (I have seen one planned in 3 months, 6 months, and 10 months). However, my Fiance is a Grad Student set to graduate next summer (2020), and we do not want to rush after graduation, but instead wait until after so he has vacation and can take time off.

I do! I got engaged in February of this year and our wedding date is 2/20/21. A long engagement was needed for us since we are paying ourselves and I’m still in school!

I just got engaged on April 13th and we’re currently planning for a June 2021 wedding. While I would love to get married next year, waiting is more budget friendly and works better since I’ll just have finished my student teaching and he will just have graduated with his bachelors degree in May 2021.

Ours is August 27th 2021. We both aren’t financially stable enough to hold a wedding next year so decided to push it a year later. Plus we got the time to plan it more out and figure out what we agree and disagree on.

I am. My fiancé proposed February 27th 2019 and we are looking to get married June 12th 2021. We were shooting for a 2020 wedding at first but due to the stresses of life and nursing school (graduating May 2020) we pushed it back.

We have a 15 month engagement. We got engaged on Halloween 2018 and we’re getting married January 25th, 2020. We wanted a little bit of time to save because we are paying for everything as well. I enjoy having more time to be “the fiancé” 😂 time to plan our wedding just right and get to talk about the wedding more than I could have than if it was short lived 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep! Engaged November 2018, planning for a 2021, as well. I'm finishing up my doctorate and will be moving in 2020, so we didn't want too much overlap with planning/moving/wedding planning/wedding spending. So we're pushing to 2021 to account for a lot of big life events in the next 2 years!

My fiancé proposed to me on May 19th, 2018. We are planning on having our wedding Sept. 25th 2021 so we can save our money and what not. Working retail and having to pay/plan for everything alone wont be easy but we have really creative families so it luckily wont cost too much since we wont have to worry about cake, photos, hair/makeup, etc. Mainly attire and booking places will cost the most. Congratulations to all you other soon to be's!

Hey we chose to have a longer engagement because we wanted to get everything that we wanted and we know it is going to cost. Also I am in transition at work to another position and he is relocating to where I am which takes money as well. This has also allowed me to breathe and take all of this in and plan.

We were engaged last year June. Almost everyone else we knew had weddings at the same times we had first planned so we pushed it back. We've been together for 4 years almost and are living together already. This is our next step and like you we are paying all out of pocket.

My fiancé proposed in May 2018 & our wedding date is November 7, 2021. My cousin is getting married this year, his sister is getting married in 2020 so we wanted to push it out a bit and essentially have that be “our” wedding year. Now that we’ve already booked our venue I’m so glad we pushed it out. Gives us much more time to save up for the additional vendors and pay off more of our college loans. I personally think long engagements are much less stressful on both the bride and groom!

Yes. I got engaged on Valentines day this year. My fiance and I live in different states. We planned for wedding 2021 because we have children graduating from high school and going off to college 1 this year and the other next year. We are paying for a lot.

Planning and saving, I want to make sure it’s everything we want and that’s gonna take time.
