My fiance proposed on January 26th 2019. This is my second marriage and we are paying for everything ourselves, so we're planning a longer than traditional engagement to allow ourselves to budget and save up slowly as opposed to going broke planning the wedding. We also both work over 40 hours a week and don't have a ton of time to devote to the planning

Our wedding date is 1/2/21, anyone else have a long engagement planned?

We decided on a long engagement because we are planning a destination wedding and are paying for everything ourselves. This is my second wedding and he wanted me to have my dream wedding day!

We got engaged Jan 2019 and are getting married June 2021! It's been great so far and I can't believe we've been engaged for almost 5 months already!

I work full time during the week and also have a business that takes up alot of my Saturdays- so having a long engagement was important to us so we don't feel rushed.

I've been able to book some of my vendors (venue, photographer and DJ) but none of the florists/caterer/cake/hotel I've contacted are willing to give me a rough quote or meet up until at least a year to 8 months out which has been the only challenge so far.

My wedding date is 3/6/2021! We chose to have a long engagement because I am set to graduate with my BA in December 2020 and hopefully go to med school August 2021! So I wanted to be able to enjoy that time without the stress of school

We are in much of the same boat, we have a 2.5 year engagement planned with our date being in October of 2021. We are both on second marriages, 2 children each and weddings are expensive. Though both of us didn't have a grand wedding the first time we decided this time we make it a big celebration and include the kids more than in a normal wedding (when I say kids they aren't all that young, 24, 19, 11, 8). 2 years allows us time to get everything planned out and paid for! We also want to surprise all of our family and have yet to announce it. We will be sending invites out a year to the day of our wedding and that is how everyone will find out we are engaged.
I do think being previously married has heavily influenced our decision to wait so long. No one wants the judgement of "are you really getting married again!? So soon!? Are you sure!?". We also have a few job related thing we would like to pass before the hurdle of a big wedding. Either way, we are happy with our decision to wait so long and we are receiving many discount for booking so far out. We have also been given contracts with prices for this year protecting us from inflation!

Hi. My fiance and I got engaged on April 20, 2019. We decided on a long engagement because there are a few steps in our lives that we have to take care of before building our life can taken place, I'm getting a second degree in Nursing and he's building up his career. We're paying for the whole thing ourselves and being younger it'll be a while before we can afford anything like a wedding we want. So, long engagement it is.

I’m getting married in April of 2021 because I wanted a spring wedding mainly due to the honeymoon. We want to go to Japan when the cherry blossoms are blooming for our honeymoon. We just moved in together and are still trying to fully get financially stable, but I am slowly starting to plan the wedding and save for everything.

I hit many of the same snags with vendors. I just kept persisting and learned to start every inquiry with some fore warning like "I know we are really far out but it's never really to early to make plans!" Or "I know I am two years out but I want a venue booked in stone before invites go out a year prior!" I have been met with many more open doors since doing that. I have also been given a 15% venue discount for being one of the first 15 people to book for that year! Point being just keep trying you will find what you are looking for. My Caterer also told me to request a contract with the price for this year, he said anyone not willing to lock in prices and save you from inflation doesn't deserve your business. Just passing on that in site!

Got engaged in March 2019 and planning on getting married in February 2021. I just graduated with my bachelors and wanted enough time for both of us to have time to solve and relax while planning.

I got engaged in April 2019 and We are going to have our actual wedding in June 2021. We chose to wait until he is done with his Air Force training and I do not graduate until January 2021. With him being in a completely different state with a tough schedule and me moving into my last 16 months of school it is overwhelming to plan a wedding with our schedules.

We're getting married in November 2020 but we've been engaged since February 2017. Our long engagement comes from us wanting to pay for everything ourselves. Also, I wanted my brother to be able to attend and at the time he was still active duty unable to do so. Now that he's going into the reserves and we have the cash to pay for most of everything we have chosen a date.

Our wedding date is 5/1/2021. Our decision was based on a number of factors but it began with me, I wanted time to do things like lose weight, grow my hair out and whiten my teeth.
