My fiance proposed on January 26th 2019. This is my second marriage and we are paying for everything ourselves, so we're planning a longer than traditional engagement to allow ourselves to budget and save up slowly as opposed to going broke planning the wedding. We also both work over 40 hours a week and don't have a ton of time to devote to the planning

Our wedding date is 1/2/21, anyone else have a long engagement planned?

My fiance proposed 2 and a half weeks ago but even before we got engaged we knew our wedding date would be late January 2021. I want a winter wedding and my sister is getting married too close to january 2020 for that to be possible financially for my family. So we put it off to 2021 just to give us the financial cushion.

    Hi Natalie!
I got engaged on New Years Day this year and I am looking to have my wedding in 2021 myself - to be able to budget and save, but also because I am in grad school and will be finishing in December 2020. I don’t want to stress about classes and plan a wedding ☺️

Our date is October 2, 2021. We wanted to wait for me to graduate from college and for us to buy a house together. I am all for living together before a marriage, so this is why we opted for a longer engagement.

I booked my venue 2 weeks ago for a June 5, 2021 wedding. I could’ve booked any day of that year, it seemed. Idk of my venue was an exception to the rule or not though

I am getting married October of 2021. We actually have been engaged for 2 years already lol but I am in nursing school and we have a 3 year old and I honestly am waiting until after I'm done with school which is in the beginning of 2020 because I get more financial aid because I'm technically a single mother.

Hey! I got engaged February 8th 2019 in Hawaii it was amazing! We are currently in Japan till October 2020 because my fiancé is stationed here. We are hoping to have the wedding in the summer, so we are waiting till June/July 2021 when we can go back to the states for the wedding. We also have to pay for it ourselves so we need to save up. We met in Newport ri so thought it would be beautiful to have the wedding there, but it is wayyyyyy over our budget. Anyone have any other suggestions? Really wanted a beach wedding. If not my fiancé is from Nashville so we could always do it there.

We haven't decided yet. We're leaning towards Kauai, just because neither of us are really outgoing or touristy type people, so keeping mostly away from the busier islands is preferred.

Nicholas and I are getting married May 8, 2012 and we got engaged December 15, 2017, so it's a very long engagement. 😂

Ever since I was very young, my education and drive to be a doctor has been the most important thing in my life. I had to take a medical leave of absence from university by first time around due to some chronic conditions causing me to be hospitalized in 2014. Well, I'm finally back at it full time and I'll be getting my biomedical science bachelor's in 2020. Additionally, my fiance will be getting his associates in computer engineering in 2020.

We both agreed that school comes first, and we arent in a rush, because we know that we will be together forever. So we planned the wedding for 2021 to give us plenty of time to plan out things exactly the way we want, focus on school, and save up for the big day. I think this decision will really alleviate so much of the potential stress that would be caused by a short engagement.

Totally understandable. No matter where you go, I'm sure it's going to be wonderful.

So we are doing our tenth year anniversary. Our first wedding was very rushed and very for the family. We compromised on so many little things that it hardly seemed like our wedding at all by time we were done. Our date is 10/9/2021 and we have been actively planning since the beginning of this year. I like the long time and glad we are not even telling our families until they get the invites.

I got engaged March 2019. Planning to get married May 30th 2021. We waited this long because we have 3 kids and work 40 hrs. Not only are we doing this ourselves but with work and kids this is going to be hectic. So instead of losing my mind trying to juggle life we will be taking our time. We figured if we get the place payed off the first year then the little things lile dress, dj, flowers etc the upcoming year. Hopefully it pans out.

We are getting married March 26th, 2021. The main reason is money. We are paying for our wedding ourselves and we want a nice wedding with about 70 people. We do live in the Bay Area so everything is crazy expensive. When should we start looking at venues and reserve something?

My fiancé proposed July 4th of 2017. We are getting married June 26 of 2021. We are waiting so long to get married so that we both can finish school. We decided when we got together in January of 2016 that our school would always be first.

We are waiting till 2021 to get married too. We are paying for our wedding by ourselves also! I wanted a long engagement because Its WAY too hectic to get everything in order in such a short period of time. If you truly love eachother it shouldn't matter how long your engagement is because at the end of the day if you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, why rush!

It is great to hear that I am not the only one with a long engagement. My fiance proposed in March of this year and we are planning for a May wedding in 2021. A lot of my friends are asking why?? Well first, my fiance and I are currently doing long distance because he is in the military/working for the government and is currently stationed in Texas and I am in Washington State. We met in college (Go WSU Cougs!) and have been doing long distance every since we started dating due to him being station all over the country. We are hoping by the time he is done in Texas, we can get married and be stationed together wherever they may relocate him. Or if he is staying there for more than two years, it will give me time to more down there and find a job. Additionally, working in the education field does not really bring the biggest salary therefore, we want to save up to have the perfect wedding for the both of use!

Again it is great to hear everyone's story!

Proposal was Feb 17, 2019 and our wedding date is July 24th 2021! I have a year left of school and am currentyl not working. We need an extra year to save money to pay for the wedding.

Plus the date means a lot to us. My parents' wedding anniversary is 7/22 and his parents' wedding anniversary is 7/23.

    It worked out perfectly!
