Long Island weddings on Fire Island...any experiences?!

FutureDMK, on May 23, 2016 at 2:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Living on Long Island one of the best things are the beaches (they aren't the cleanest, but it's a beach). My dream wedding is on the beach. I was going to go down to Florida but that's not happening. I was wondering if any one got married (ceremony/reception) on fire island?!

I can tell you that in season it will be monster expensive if you can even find a venue. Did you look closer in on LI ? nj? Fire island is also legendary in terms of travel time and hotel cost

From LI also...never heard anyone getting married in Fire Island but I'm sure you could find places and rent some of the houses so people don't have to commute that night.

As far as a beach wedding on LI, hope you have a big budget, I checked pretty much every venue in the area as this was my dream as well but then we decided it's a nice dream but not worth the money.

We're getting married overseeing a lake so still very nice but at half the cost and we'll use the rest of the money for a beach honeymoon.

    Good luck!

OMG I'm getting married at Beach Club Estate! Lol

Totally found them by accident as the name can be a little deceiving.

My wedding is 85 guest but if you have a larger guest list they will accommodate you at their bigger venue, Windows on the Lake, and your ceremony would be right next to the lake, it's really pretty.

@Devon I'm not a big fan of montauk. It's gorgeous but I don't know. Dates are flexible I just want to get married ASAP. A restaurant is what we want but MIL wants a full scaled venue.

    Frank's great.

Now if you want a restaurant, and depending on how casual you want it, Off Key Tikki hosts weddings too.

GymRat...no she isn't. she insisted it wouldn't be fair to guest. We agreed on a place last night, just ironing out details. But thankfully FH, my parents and MIL LOVED IT

Okay I asked that because if she isn't paying then she really doesn't have a say where it is. If your dream wedding is in Florida and you can afford it, then you have it in Florida. As far as it not being fair to guests, they can choose not to attend; no one is putting a gun to their heads. Tons of brides on this site have destination weddings. A few brides got more than average attendance too! Best of luck to you! I'm a Long Island May 2017 bride myself. ;-)

Ah where are you getting married. Here's the thing she doesn't have a say but she puts ideas in FH head. Super frustrating. We found a place here that we all love and the price is reasonable. It's no beach wedding though. I'm thinking on our year wedding anniversary we can renew our vows on the beach like we were going to do originally for the wedding!

Ya another problem is 4/6 of his GM couldn't make it down to Florida! But it'll be fine. The venue is looking over the lake. And FMIL shocking loved it. And finally agreed to no church wedding.

Hi there I’m looking to plan a beach wedding on fire island and would like to know how to go about it? Are there permits needed? Do the restaurants handle on the beach ceremonies? What’s the easiest way to do a beach ceremony in May of 2021 at ocean beach?

Does anyone have a link to share to their wedding website from their FI wedding? Since there are a lot more logistics involved on FI than a typical wedding, I'm looking for inspo on what info I need to include for my website. Thanks!
