I am pretty sure I am doing my own wedding makeup. I am just going to do my everyday makeup; however, I did run into some questions while selecting products specifically for weddings, and I am wondering if you all ran into them while trialing makeup.
1. Did your MUA match the right shade? I had various makeup counters trying to match my shade, and a lot of time the foundation oxidizes and the shade is too orange after a short period of wear. Took me months to find the right shade.
2. Did your MUA avoid foundation SPF? I had an artist recommending Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear. I love that foundation but was told to avoid it for bridal makeup, because it will cause washout when my wedding photographer uses flash. I have seen a few of my friends' wedding photos, with their face looks washed out. Their MUA didn't avoid SPF
3. How long did you keep the trial makeup on your face? Because my eyelashes are straight and point down, most of the waterproof/smearproof mascara does smear after a few hours of wear. Even the ones the artists recommend.
4. Does your foundation separate after hours of wear? On my journey to find the correct foundation, I found some foundation looks amazing for the first few hours but looks terrible afterward. Foundation sometimes will spot, separate, dry off, and show dry spots after a few hours. It is very skin type-dependent,
Below is a list of foundations I tried. Some of them didn't work for me - some of them may be 'the one' for you, since we have different skin conditions:
- Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear: love everything about it but the SPF. It is actually my everyday go to option
- Urban Decay Hydromaniac Glowy Tinted Hydrator Foundation: It has a much lighter coverage, it used to be my everyday makeup but it doesn't do well for long hours of wear
- Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation: I wanted to love this one so badly, however, it is too dry for my normal to dry skin type. This is an amazing foundation, lasts a long time, transfer-proof. but it shows dry patches and makes my skin feels tight.
- NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation: I dislike this one. Medium coverage. It does really badly on my skin. It separates almost as soon as I put it on my face. It looks terrible few a few hours.Too Faced
- Born This Way Natural Finish Longwear Liquid Foundation: The finish is similar to the NARS foundation mentioned above, however it does not separate as easily. I was likely I found my shade since the shade selection was limited. I think this is going to be the one I use for my wedding makeup.
