Looking for Ideas for morning of attire for bridal party

Jennifer, on August 26, 2019 at 3:36 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 13

Looking for ideas for bridesmaids attire for getting ready the morning of, other than floral robes. I want something that my girls will be able to wear again, but that also photographs well. Any ideas? I was thinking cute joggers, or some type of cotton or silk pajama set.

Thanks! Smiley heart

I think silk pajamas are very cute! Particularly the button down ones so they would be easy to take off without messing up hair and make up. There’s a lot of great options on Etsy that you can personalize if you’d like!

I agree, silk pajamas are cute and would likely be worn again!

I did get my girls robes, but in solid colors they would personally like and hopefully wear again.

People are likely not going to want to wear "silk" pajamas again. Odds are they will be made of polyester. Would you wear silk or silk-like pajamas? Would you wear a polyester robe? I don't mean to sound negative, but I think people give weird suggestions. My SIL gave her friends monogrammed button down shirts. Now, I wouldn't wear that again, but it would come in handy if you had to get hair and makeup done again. If it's truly important to you that these items be used again, try sticking to cotton or another natural fabric.

Maybe something like this with leggings

Of course I was advised to get the robes, but I wanted to do something completely different. I also considered getting everyone cute pajamas. I decided against that too.

Here were my problems with getting everyone clothes as gifts and why I decided not to do it:

    1. I had 9 women and 1 man in my bridal party. Whatever I decided to get would need to work for everyone. How would it be received if I told my male best friend that he had to show up wearing pajamas to take pictures with the ten of us girls and his girlfriend in tow? It would probably be weird for him. (His girlfriend was not a bridesmaid, she did not receive the bridal party gifts, but she helped us get ready. I gave her a bracelet.)

    2. I was a plus-size bride with body issues. My bridesmaids had different heights, shapes and sizes. Even my sister had just had a baby two months before the wedding. I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable by having them take pictures in pajamas and robes.

So, I told everyone to come wearing black pants and a colored button down shirt. A button down or zip up shirt prevented the hair from getting ruined when changing into their dresses at the venue.

That's exactly what I had them do. I told them to wear black pants and a button down shirt in the color of their choice. See my previous comment.

Daughter bought her BMs nice quality soft flannel plaid button downs in a color combo that went with the wedding and they wore their own black leggings. The shirts were super comfortable, easy to remove after their hair & make-up was done, and they all wear them regularly after the wedding (NO names, initials, titles, etc. -- just comfy shirts). The getting ready pictures look super cute and they were all comfortable (and covered). BM's ranged from a tall size 6 to a very short size 18, so it worked for everyone equally well. (Daughter is nearly 6 feet tall herself and a size 8, and hated a "cute BM robe" she was expected to wear for a friend's wedding; it was so short and gapped at the bust, that she had to wear shorts under it and a nude tank top underneath it so she wasn't flashing anyone. She immediately put that robe in the Goodwill bag after the wedding.)

I gave my girls a choice between a short strapless romper, a cotton waffle print short robe, or a long PJ shirt. All 3 were black, and had their initials in white, and all were from Etsy. It still looked cute in pictures but they felt more comfortable!

My 9 bridesmaids, my mother, my husband's mother and stepmother, and our flower girl.Looking for Ideas for morning of attire for bridal party 4

Thanks everyone this helps a lot! I definitely like the idea of having everyone wear their own leggings and getting nice shirts or giving them options to choose from. I'll take a look at Etsy!

I'm planning on doing rompers for my girls! Lulu's has some cute ones! Also walmart has surprisingly cute ones! Just not sure about their quality.
