Looking for my tribe... small, non-traditional, small budget weddings.

Shannon, on October 10, 2021 at 3:57 PM Posted in Planning 2 139
I feel so out of place in most of these forums. I'm looking for my tribe to discuss planning ideas. I'm not so concerned about typical wedding things or what the majority considers the right way to do things. I feel like you know your own friends and family and my what is acceptable in your circle. This is a second marriage. We're in our 40s. We're planning something small, outdoors, with Pagan elements... Less than 50 guests... extremely small budget.

Anyone in the same mindset and want to share ideas? Feel free to say hello!

If you haven’t already, take a look at offbeatbride.com.

We’re going with non traditional and trying not to spend a ton which you can actually do, contrary to popular belief

Congrats! We are going the nontraditional route also (goth, heavy metal, touch of Halloween) for our wedding this coming Saturday. I went through my house and am using a ton of my mercury glass candleholders, flameless candles and borrowed silver-plate serving pieces in our table decor. I ordered only 100 flowers from Fiftyflowers to put in bud vases ( there are other online or wholesale places around) and made my brooch bouquet from old jewelry from family and tag sales. Think outside the box for decor items, I get you about not being concerned about what is "expected" or "normal". I want people talking after about how unique our wedding was! Cant wait to hear your ideas

    Hi Shannon…another Shannon here.
I too am having a non traditional style wedding on a smaller budget, for NJ anyway.
No wedding parties, garter, or bouquet toss. I like circular ceremony seating. Working on ideas for fresh flower centerpiece alternatives using lanterns, glass geometric, and candles with silk flower accents.

I love lantern and geometric centerpieces. I was thinking about doing a geometric arch for our ceremony.

Heya, I had a small wedding with a teeny tiny budget. The best ways we kept our 30 person wedding under 1,500 was to be thoughtful about the elements we chose. I'm lazy so DIY isn't my thing. Neither is cleaning up or setting up. I found the simplest things often pack the greatest punch. Colorful attendants, restaurant reception in a private room (food was bomb), and somehow was able to afford a photographer building their portfolio.

This is the color scheme we went with for our October wedding Smiley smile :
